Haven't heard that one in a while. I still have my original copy of Blind Faith around here somewhere, but not the one with the controversial cover art.

Is "would be racer boyz" an insult? If yes, to whom does it apply? Does it mean anyone who likes to go fast?

It could be me but I would be a "would be racer old man".

I had a copy of the record, with 'that' cover art, but it went astray long ago. However, I was lucky enough to attend their concert in Vancouver (B. C.) in '69 -- during their one and only tour. Pretty impressive they were.

Speed is one of the ways those of us that are riding for fitness or competition have to measure our improvement.

I'm perfectly okay with any that wish only to ride their bike for enjoyment.

Shocking. I meet all of the above, and yet my favorite thing to do on a bike is ride pretty damn fast.
It's called a false dichotomy. One can be fast AND casual. This is not a revelation.

I like to ride fast, then stop and take pictures of things I find interesting, or just to grab a ride memory. Repeat as inspired to do so. Sometimes I don't ride fast at all, because riding slow some days helps my body ride faster on other days. I ride bikes that other people paid a lot of money for, but I only paid a medium amount of money for. I buy high-priced kits on sale because I appreciate the details that go into well-made clothing, and it helps me be more comfortable. I care about my position because it makes my riding more efficient, and more comfortable.

That's me. I encourage everyone do do whatever it is they want to do. Just ride bikes. Bikes are fun.

Me thinks you're trying to force a non-issue. I'm not a racer and like you, I'm out mostly for exercise and fresh air. I'm not competitive.....well......mostly not. I do mileage bragging rights sometimes and love toasting someone on a hill. But mostly, I enjoy riding and the high I get from outdoor exertion. But I recognize that there are riders who are competitive and whether that competitiveness is in regard to speed, distance or elevation gain, is there anything really wrong with this? I'm not them and they're not me. So why the repetitive ad-nauseam threads pontificating your views and objectives? You're as bad as the other extreme like the weight weenies.

I have the remastered 2-CD "Deluxe" Edition. Nice improvement in sound quality over the original. The first CD is the original album (basically all the songs they ever recorded) and the 2nd CD is some unpublished jam sessions that are pretty damn good.

Why? There's no harm done, and his posts usually generate a lot of interesting and sometimes informative discussion and debate. What is the actual problem?

What if the casual, recreational rider shows up and just wants to learn more about bikes? Are you saying he shouldn't get involved, that BF is only for people that care about "speed, high-priced bikes, high-priced kits, form, position, cadence, or any of that"?

I appreciate that there are so many high-performance and/or competitive cyclists in these forums, for whom such things do matter. But among the general cycling population at large, you're definitely in the minority. Most people, by a large margin, are recreational riders. Maybe they ask their questions on Facebook. Is that the intent?

It doesn't even have to be that low on the food chain. When we ride the MUP, we see dozens and sometimes hundreds of cyclists, all out for a nice ride on the trail, and a lot of them on pretty decent bikes. If I started asking them, I'm guessing most people have never heard of Bike Forums.

We used to call those handlebars turned upward like that "hobo handlebars". Do people still call them that?
