Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We had a cold front come through this week. Temp is down to 98 right now. Will ride about 7:00 as it should cool off to about 96 by then.

I did that in the summer of 2020 and again during the summer of 2021 at home. Fingers crossed that the third system doesn't crap out this summer.

I also had a partial replacement at the office building last month.

Paying for that stuff is no fun.

You live in an air-conditioned city though.

True, though that doesn't prevent strings of up to 4 days at 95-105 on occasion. But it cools down to the 60s overnight.

There should be a national holiday celebrating the invention of practical AC for the home and office.

What a stupid question. Of course not.

We replaced one HVAC unit at home in the summer of 2020.

We replaced another home HVAC unit last summer.

I replaced the evaporator coil in one of the office systems last month.

We are hoping that we do not have to replace the third and largest system at home this summer or the other office system.

I've spent over $30k replacing air conditioning systems in the last 24 months.

But, I'm not spending a single friggin day without AC in the summer.

Supposed to drop down to the high 80s this weekend.
I've been invited to do a shortened version of a club ride with 5500 feet of gain in 62 miles. Not sure how that will go.

Good luck with that. I'm trying to hook up with a buddy for a MTB ride in the Santa Monicas to get out of the SGV oven.

We're meeting in Calabasas, going over Old Topanga and to PCH and climbing Encinal and back to Westlake. Some years ago I would have considered that an easy ride for a Saturday. The cookie is crumbling.

Where in the SMs were you going? When it's really hot I have driven to the beach near Sycamore canyon. From there you can do all the climbing and descending you want and can turn back to the beach when you get hot. There is also water in places on those fire roads.

I have found if it's 100 in the valleys it will be 100 in the Santa Monicas for the most part.

Sounds like a tough ride to me. We will probably do a Sullivan Ridge/Canyon loop with something additional off Dirt Mully.

I like to start at the top of Reseda, to the Hub, then Will Rogers trail, J-drop and up Sullivan ridge or take the second drop (don't know what it's called) into Sullivan Canyon. Me on Will Rogers trail.

My buddy lives not far from the bottom of Sullivan, so we will roll out from his house.
