In areas like that, vegetables aren't food. They are the stuff that food eats.

In 2015 I did a loop in the Black Hills. I decided to do a non-cooking tour because of issues with finding quarts of fuel at the start. I am firmly convinced that ranch dressing is the official condiment of the state. The first day on the road I stopped for lunch at a burger bar affiliated with a campground. On the lunch counter were squeeze bottles of catsup, mustard and ranch dressing. That night, many of the vegetables at the salad bar of a family restaurant I went to in Spearfish were mixed with ranch dressing. Same was the case at the place I had dinner the third night. Rach dressing was ubiquitous during that trip.

At one point I was staying in Custer for a few nights. Did the Needles Highway loop one day. On the way back to town I passed a resort on a lake that had a restaurant open to the public. The specials board outside listed a spinach salad with strawberries and goat cheese. I though I was hallucinating at first. No way was I going to pass that up.

If you're talking about route 76, yeah I agree. I live just a few miles from it in Kansas, and unless you want burgers or fried chicken, you're pretty much out of luck. Sometimes even just trying to find a convenience store for water or something is hard unless you happen to be near a town.

Most frustrating is going to head out for a ride and finding a flat before you even get started.

But that has happened in two years after going tubeless.

it's frustrating when someone tries to smell my farts & has a fetish for the rooster tail of muck water coming off the rear wheel.

You're right and seems to always happen when you are on a tight schedule.

just keep in mind, if your limit adjustment is out, the rear der will get hangry for some spokes.

Always appreciate your wit. A bright spot on here that you don’t need to clean up.

In retrospect, there is nothing frustrating with a modern road bike. Everything has evolved to make it as easy for the rider as possible.

STI/electronic shifters, compact/sub compact cranks, wide range cassettes, clipless pedals, disc brake rim options, wide tire widths, tubeless, lighter bike weights.

Short of having the bike pedal for you, which is also an option, it is hard to find a fault.

That my front wheel has a quick release but I need to unscrew it to get past the lawyer lips so it is really more like a bolt on than a quick release. Won't anyone think of the OCD afflicted like me? Oh the humanity!

Most frustrating?
Extreme heat and not being able to ride longer routes.

That if I don't remember to put a tennis ball in the right-side toe clip, the next day I won't be able to slip my foot in it when I go for a ride.
