The driver of the Audi continued on without stopping.
So a motorist hit a deer, but kept driving, thinking they killed a cyclist. And when they tell their lie, I thought I hit a deer, it will unknowingly to the driver, be the truth that they did in fact hit a deer.

There is probably some front-end damage to the car. Hitting a deer, while driving. Doesn't usually end up as, a small paint scratch to the vehicle. Unless the vehicle is bigger than an SUV.

The car didn't hit the deer, the deer hit the car.
