Grown men? I would have guessed 11-15 age group stringing up the path. I guess they hung around to watch and got busted. So many strata of stupid with those three dudes. Amazing.
On another note: Those are the nicest looking mug shots I have ever seen.

Recreational marijuana is legal in Oregon, whether that has anything to do with it or not.
I read this yesterday and it was disgusting. I'm glad they are busted, I think that's considered a felony charge. Malicious injury at least. Grr.

There's always some politics-drunk buffoon ready to blame a political party for this sort of thing. I'm not talking about any present company of course, lest anyone take offence.
This booby trap is the one that gives me cold chills because with a fishing line or small cord at chest level, I know that I could easily miss seeing it. Especially early mornings when I'm half asleep and might be the first person riding through depending on the weather.

Sorry to hear about the hurt cyclist.
As for the three "pranksters" getting caught by the police...

I disagree, but I don't see how we could test our hypothesis. Add least I hope you are this strict with the definition of terrorism next time a brown guy gets into a knife fight and the media calls it a terrorist attack.

I don't remember mentioning any definition of terrorism. Please advise.

Oh great, just what we need. Anti-cycling terrorists! And here I am thinking they were just your regular run-of-the-mill ass wipes.

I just read this story this morning, not much information, but highly doubt any terrorism charges will be brought against these ********.
What's sad is that they seemed to just be released without bail (according to the below article).
I wonder if there's even a chance they will not be charged with a felony? I wonder what the outcome was for others that have been caught doing this cowardly act? Sadly, it seems like it's an easy thing to do without getting caught...

Perhaps they were just flying a kite and it crashed across the path from them. (Note to self: If I ever string up a bike path, tie a kite to the other end of the string somewhere.)

Cycle Year Round
According to the blog Bike Portland, at least three similar incidents have occurred locally within the last eight years, including one in 2014 where a trail user found a trip wire attached to an improvised explosive device. (It was later deactivated by a bomb squad).

If a device was mailed to the League of American Wheelmen headquarters, perhaps that could be twisted into a terrorist attack by definition. Some ****ers entertaining themselves trying to hurt one or two RANDOM people, without professing some political cause (we hate redheads), is not terrorism by definition. You are free to interpret the situation for yourself of course, but a US court is not likely to see this as an act of terror and said ****ers won't be shipped off to Guantanamo Bay.

Eugene, Oregon is rated by "Bicycling Magazine" as one of the top ten cycling communities in the United States, whether that has anything to do with it or not.
