Specialized Stumpjumper '92?

I just picked up a specialized stumpjumper which I think is a '92. I really like the stumpjumpers with tange prestige main tubes.

The bike is pretty much original and weighs 26 lbs. I could easily knock of a pound with a different choice of tires (the panaracer tour tires the bike came with weigh 655 grams each). The frame is straight with no dings but has more than a few scratches and areas of missing paint. Still most of the paint is still doing its job so this is fixable. The parts are in excellent shape. I overhauled the hubs and the wheels are in great shape.

This is the bike as found in the "wild."

Still riding the Schwinn. Grandpa with younger grandson and his mommy. His brother sped on ahead on his bicycle (still on training wheels). Annual 4th of July parade in their neighborhood.

Not as old as some pictured in these pages, but a really solid 1994 Stumpjumper that just arrived. One of their early dual suspension approaches.

Pretty sure this is a 1990. Original paint, forks, and headset. I've built it a few different ways over the years. Can't see myself ever parting with it.

Another one.... 1986 Panasonic Pro ATB These are pics from the day I picked it up. It had some red cannondale panniers and rack on it, which I removed..(saved), but took some pictures before I wiped it down. I'm not sure it was ever ridden. Only thing not original/catalog correct are the tires, which may have been put on at the time of purchase. Early Suntour XC.

Bianchi Super Grizzly 1987

The Super Griz is one of my favorite acquisitions this season. It allowed me to thin the herd by zero, as I let my regular Grizzly in dark blue go. I like the non aggressive stem and its likely the reason I grab it vs. other bikes when I take a short pleasure cruise. I just finished a cleaning and a bit of touch-ups, so better take some pics. Full XT group.

Wow, those pedals look new! Usually the dust cap is missing and the side of the cage is all scratched up. In that condition those would go for big $ on eBay.

I have these ONZAs on my '85 Cannondale. I think they are '90s. I still have some ONZA "Porcupine" stickers... somewhere.

Ritchey- not sure of the exact year or model. A bit too small for me, will probably go up to the cabin. This came as a result of following up a “free Ritchey bike” ad on CL. I thought, what sort of scam is this? No scam; free bike!

It’s the next bike in line for some work after I get the current project off of the bike stand. Both tires are totally shot on this one. Aside from being ridiculously dirty, everything seems fine with it.

Nice. Those had a Tange Prestige front triangle and an Al rear with the Horst link. A great example of old school short travel.

Love those Konas. Great color, and great job - looks new. What is your seatpost diameter?

No pics but saw an early 90's Breezer at a small shop today, Taiwan made, Richey tubing, maroon with cream painted on luglike accents, it was cool as heck and had it not been way to small it might have come home with me.

Gotta start taking a camera with me, crappy phone is a waste for pics.

Guess it was a Hurricane or Jet Stream, looks like they sold a ton of them, same style paint on the Lightning, as another is added to the list.

does this one count ? Ibis Bow Ti, full suspension with no pivot. It's a leaf spring. they only made about 10 of these. Interesting bike.

That bike always blew me away. So much amazing craftsmanship and materials for such a terrible (in retrospect) design.

the design does have some compromises. Climbing in low gear you can see the rear wheel flopping back and forth.

the "flex web" on mine cracked some years ago. I'm not brave enuff to weld it. But a cool bike. Sammy Hagar had one, like that's a thing.
