Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That photo is years old. Bar tape was replaced. LHT needs new tape though. I patched a spot with medical tape.

The weather is perfect in Roanoke today. 63 and sunny. I’m kicking myself for not bringing my cycling gear, rental would be 50 bucks for the day. Went walking down a greenway, didn’t realize it was closed and got stopped by a cop. Luckily for me the signs had been removed where I entered or I would have gotten a ticket.

I got 49mpg on the way home from Costco this morning. Kept the cruise control set to 80 km/h (50mph). I've found, on smaller roads, I can do even better at 35mph. The key is lack of topes. If they are present in any quantity, it drops into the low to mid 30s

I rode 23.5 miles today. Because of the chill (46°), 20 mph winds, and occasional drizzle, I did an urban ride on my trike. First ride since Thursday because of my eyeball injection.
