I got the Raleigh Super Course out for a 14 mile ride to the sidewalk library (left 4 books brought home 3), and rode over to check out a movie shoot location. 90° today, November in LA

That's a 5-speed version of the classic "Cyclo" derailleur from France.
Cyclo derailleur in Velobase
The chainstay-mounted Cyclo is controlled by a continuous cable, and a downtube shift lever that works in the opposite direction of most more recent shift levers. (Pull the lever towards you to shift towards smaller rear cog).
It's not very easy to set up, as Nola nicely described here:

However, once setup the Cyclo works great. Really solid, never-miss shifts, and lots of chainwrap because of the chainstay mount position, which eases ths wear on both chainlinks and freewheel cogs. Plus the Cyclo handles a fairly wide range of gearing. I have this 1961-era bike set up with a 14-30 5-speed freewheel and 36-50 double chainrings, which works well for me on both hills and flats.

Nice weather today close to 60 and no wind so got to take a ride up to the top of Beaver Creek road and back by the forest access road and bike trail which are still almost clear.Very nice lat season ride did t on the old Rockhpper,

No I have some very nice semi vintage WTB Velociraptor front and rear specific tread high traction tires on the Hardrock which are great on snow and mud enough traction yet don't pic up much snow or mud . I have front and rear specific higher end tires on two of my MTB's too bad they have basically been discontinued having front rear specific tears makes a huge difference on snow up and downhills.

Super-rare, late-November 65-degree day. Set my calendar to "busy" and did 27 miles up to the county line.

What a difference a week makes; temp 77 last weekend 45 this afternoon. I managed my short 22 mile Roger Williams Park loop today. 5 laps with a little urban riding to get there.

Today I had every intention of going on a nice spin after work but it is looking highly unlikely now. Commute only it is. This was from the other day on a nice 28 mile spin to the beach

First real ride on the Fuji Opus III that I got from Thrifty Bill. Not quite an authentic build, but kinda close with SunTour Superbe RD, Cyclone FD, Cyclone friction shifters, Superbe brakes, SunXCD crankset (the new SunTour), sew-up wheels with 27mm Challenge tires. Very smooth and lively/responsive, which is a great combo.

The SLT got a makeover this last week. My 7 speed shimergo setup got replaced with 11 speed 105.
I think it speaks for itself that I only planned on going out for a little bit but ended up staying out for 3 hours and 45 miles. I think this is going to be a really wonderful setup.
Overall no huge hicccups. The seat clamp slipped a tiny bit as did the bars, but I've tightened them down and don't expect anymore problems. Might want a 5mm shorter BB for chainline optimization, but that's the most of my complaints!

On the trail today, just past an intersection where I had to slow down, an older woman on a modern roadie shifted the chain into the spokes. Her derailleur hanger snapped off and the derailleur went bouncing in front of me. That's not the sort of thing you can say, "you good?" and ride on. 
Stopped to help her, although I couldn't do much with most of her broken chain wrapped and stuck around the cassette.

Low 50's with a stout north wind. All that was fine until it unexpectedly started raining sideways. I had to ride about a mile in it until I could get under a covered pavillion at some baseball fields and wait it out. Still better than sitting on the couch!

I rode 32 miles today, mostly in Coventry. Temp was 45, a gray November day. I got off to a rough start by hitting my neighbor's dog. It was more like an open field tackle by the little guy. He charged out at me so I grabbed the brake hard, hit him and promptly flipped over the bars. My neighbor was very apologetic.
