Start up the banjos!
Serotta pista full bike, Bottechia and Medici frameswere in my possession yesterday from the Bikeworks's sale yesterday. I missed out on the Bottechia full bike, but it was not my size so no loss there.
I'll have some pictures up soon for all except the Medici Pro-Strada. That of which was faster than lightning sold to a rather tall humble sort that prefers bikes of 65cm, who shall be nameless but not shameless (RoS). The Pro-Strada had a stuck stem which was promptly dispatched for removal at the local Road Warrior's house.

catch of the day.
I've been half-heartedly looking for a nicer set of 26" wheels for my Haro Extreme, as the originals on the bike are pretty worn out. i've hoped that a matched set would show up at the local bike thrift store or on CL, but nothing really caught my eye, or it was a single. i saw a kinda dirty, but straight/true Mavic 217 at the bike thrift store last week, but it was only a front. oh well. then today i looked a little more closely at the wheel selection, and found the matching dirty, but straight/true 217 rear!

WV is not flat..
So I’m not a huge fan of shopping for bike parts or supplies at the big box stores, but when you walk by the clearance rack at a Target and see 700x38 tires for $6 and 26x2.0 for $10 you just have to grab them. Really cuts down on the overhead on flipper bikes.

I buy Bell tires for my kid's bikes, but they don't last long and they start to crack within a few months, I usually get a season out of them which isn't that many miles, maybe 100 or so. But I too buy them when on sale.

Had a French door put in yesterday and the installer mentioned I had a lot of bikes. He left to buy some trim pieces and when he came back he pulled a bike out of the bed of his truck. His dads bike that was sitting in his garage for 20 years. Looks like an early 70's Raleigh Competition. Pretty rough, but I haven't learned how to say no yet.

The T.A. Professional 3-pin crankset took an odd-sized chainring bolt with a standard width head but a smaller threaded body. They're pretty pricey when you find them. I suspect a previous owner lost some parts and substituted some other bolt with washers for the replacement.

I don’t usually pull things out of the metal pile at the dump because I don’t like getting yelled at, but I figured it was worth the risk for a Nitto Bullmoose bar.

I had one that just would not unscrew. Both parts would turn in the crankarm. I broke a Campy pin spanner on it.
I took it to a machinist friend; he drilled a little hole through the back-side flange, though the flange of the nut, through the arm, but *not* into the outer-side flange of the screw.
The he turned the bit around and stuck it in the hole to lock the nut to the crankarm and THEN it uncsrewed.
ALWAYS GREASE YOUR THREADS.

On my last two Saturday rides I had seen this “Bike Lane” sign knocked down on the side of the road. The vehicle that hit it had sheared the post in two. I brought it home in my car today and plan to put it on my shop wall after I straighten it out a bit.
I realized I should be glad that I wasn’t riding along this stretch of road when the motorist drifted onto the dirt shoulder and took out the sign. Auberry Road is one of the most popular roads for cyclists in Fresno County, a road I’ve ridden at least a thousand times over the years, and a number of cyclists have been struck and killed on it, including a friend who died last May.

REALLY wish you had just contact DOT here in CA and asked them to repost it. They are much more likely to send a crew with a post, than they are to make a new sign and then put it up. If it is as dangerous as you say, we need every reminder to vehicles that we are on the road!

The cost of the sign and if the county will pony up $ to replace it.
How will pothole people know it is knocked down if it is not there? Do pothole fillers actually put up signs?
