Gitane Tour de France 60cm
Gitane Tour de France-- 1972(?)
SOLD! Thanks all. Glad this one is going to a good home.
Reynolds 531.
Seat tube 60cm center-to-center, top tube 59cm c-to-c.
Simplex delrin derailleurs---no cracks(yet!)
Stronglight crank, Mafac Competition brakes and levers (half hoods in good condition), Suntour bar-cons. Mavic "Montherly Route" tubular rims, Campagnolo high flange hubs. Ideale saddle.
Paint and decals have the chips, marks, and general patina you'd expect from a 50-year old bike, but the metallic teal green (blue?) paint still glows. The most substantial paint scrape is on the non-drive side seat stay. No dents, major rust issues, or other frame damage.
Things I've done: replaced cracked derailleur pulleys, new chain, new Vittoria Pave Evo tubular tires. I've enjoyed riding this bike, but it's time for it to find a new home.
Bike is currently in the Boston area, but can deliver along the MA-NH-VT corridor. $275 plus actual shipping. Happy to answer any questions or provide more pictures.

Neat bike with solid upgrades (campy hi flange hubs, suntour barcons). Very solid bike at a good price. This will sell locally.

If I were local I would have a very hard time saying, “No.”

If only the forks were just a bit longer for more clearance under the crown... Such a strange characteristic. I have three as well: 3 different sizes for my family members.

As I said, I really liked riding this bike--- I have an orange one of just about the same vintage, and two seemed excessive(?). Now that I have the proper crank puller, the French bikes have just started to follow me home...

If this had no derailleur hanger, I might have pursued it as a 3-speed conversion project. I don't need one, but I have been thinking about doing that for a while...for some reason.

Nice price on this one. Shouldn't last long. Have one of these already, but seems like one just isn't enough for some reason. Good luck with the sale.

Pedal to the medal
Great deal considering the parts, condition, and pedigree. Too big for me, which is fine, because I still need to build up my Moto GR.

Beautiful bike. It’s too big for me or we would be talking!
Like it seems everyone here I too have one (60 ctt) but looking for 54 or 56.

These are great bikes. I was lucky enough to own a very nicely preserved one, in gold. In retrospect, I shouldn't have sold it. Here it is, from about 4 years ago:

I feel a bit like I’m in that joke about the man facing a flood and when help comes by he refuses and keeps saying, “God will save me.” When he dies and goes to heaven, he confronts God and asks why he didn’t get saved. God replies, “I sent you a canoe, a row boat, a motor boat...”
If a third Gitane TdF comes up for sale in 60/62, I’m buying it!!!

Sorry for the late update, but this bike is sold. Glad to see it going to a good home, and now I have bit more breathing room in the basement!
