With all the tire discussion - What you putting on this season?

Show what you are or will be riding soon for this year. Please state the primary surface condition for your tire choice(s).

All invited to participate.

Me ? Surface?
I am a known roadie, with some light gravel on many rides.
New this year for me.
For a major rider = Conti 5000 clincher
For a creme/black look = Wolfpack cotton clincher
Smooth for a racy Vintage = VeloFlex Roubaix.
For clincher back-up = Vittoria Open Corsa CX.

The Conti measures 24.5mm on traditional rims. Maybe wider on the new rims.

VeloFlex is the predominant tubular on my bikes. Trying the (on sale) Wolfpack cotton clincher. I thought 24mm, actual after mounting ( but no ride) at 110psi = 23.5 nominally. And below the Wolfpack on the Vent Noir.

As yet unridden.

I got several new tires in over the winter that I haven't tried yet.

A pair of Jack Brown Mile Munchers. Looking forward to trying those (sorry about the flash):

A pair of wire-beaded Strada Bianca Comps. Very cheap, so I don't know what to expect:

And a pair of Panaracer Race C Evo 4 Classic Protite 28's. Waited almost five months for them, so these should be good :

EDIT: mostly road, light gravel, and hopefully some real strade bianche first weekend of October.

Still in the early stages of the build, but I'm hoping to put some Continental Gatorskin 27 x 1 1/4 on a Raleigh Sprite I'm having a devil of a time fixing up.
An alternative would be Evo Dash but I've not had much luck finding information about the tire. They are less expensive by a fair margin and readily available

Mostly just for neighbourhood rides and some paved trails.

After finishing the new wheels for my '79 Fuji America in February, I mounted 28mm GP5000 with Vittoria latex tubes. Surface condition is mostly paved roads in the Seattle region.

27 x 1 1/8 non-PT Paselas on the 1983 Miyata 710. Also with Vittoria latex tubes. Same surface conditions as the Fuji.

On my 1984 Stumpjumper, one of the decadent elliptical tire logos was recently replaced with a modern high-performance rectangular logo. Also Vittoria latex tubes.

Surface conditions for the Stumpy are the same paved roads as the previous bikes, plus Cascade foothills gravel, which is sometimes groomed hardpack but can also be pretty chunky double-track.

I like latex tubes and should have bought a case of them a couple of years ago.
I confess to being perhaps 'tubularly addicted' the last 3 years and getting some clincher balance.

I am sporting Panaracer GravelKing in 700c x 26mm. I’m really liking them! Great on road or on crushed gravel path here, with enough cushion/support for my Clydesdale self at 90-105 psi, without feeling too rigid or too sluggish.

(Cosmetic note: I didn’t want the tanwall (although I like tan wall tires, but wanted black in this build) but I ordered these from two different places, one at a time. It was tough to find this size/gravel road tire a few months ago, so when the first showed up in brown for no apparent reason, I followed through (instead of returning and waiting!) and ordered a second from another seller who had some in stock. They’ve grown on me )

Running GP 5000, GP Classic, Pasela, Panaracer EVO Competition SX, among others.

Still have a pair of Michelin Pro4 Endurance on the IM, but this may be their last season.

Just ordered 4 Continental Sprinter Sprinter tubulars. One set will go on the next Colnago Super project. The others on the Vitus 979. I'll have 5 bikes with Sprinters. The other Colnago is sporting Vredestein Fortezza SE clinchers. Gitane Sprint has Conti Gatorskin clinchers and the Bianchi Veloce will get clincher Specialized All Condition 28's. Finally, the Trek 950 drop bar conversion bike has 2.1" WTB Velociraptor tires

Conti GP Classic skinwalls, preferably with latex tubes. Comfy, light feel, durable, easy to mount without needing a bead jack. Good looking if you don't mind a reddish brown sidewall.

They're 700x25 only, which limits putting 'em on my Ironman -- I have to ride the rear tire on another bike first to wear down the raised center tread just a bit, then it'll clear the rear brake bridge on the Ironman.

For 25’s, still using up the last of the Vittoria Rubino Pro III’s and migrating to Conti GP5000’s.
For 26’s, sticking with Panaracer GK’s in tanwall,
For 28’s, am hoping that these amazing Conti GP4000 SII’s last another year cuz I’m not sure I’ll ever find another 28 so wonderful.
For 30’s, will stick with Vittoria Graphene gumwalls. Lovelypiece of work, that.
For 32’s, Panaracer GK’s for the win.
Lastly, for the 650b 38’s, am expecting to get another uear out of the Compass ones before switching over to RH.

Good way to think about it @rccardr -

I found myself migrating toward up toward 28mm.
With your organized thoughts, 23&24mm clinchers might not have fallen off the radar.
Afterall (for my arse), why lose the beauty of high-end frame road qualities with plumpies

Conti 5000 in 25+28mm has made several posts.- Do they seem a bit harsh for such a high end clincher? Are they softer on new+wider rims - that I do not possess.

Glad to see some Conti Sprinter users. mine are 22mm and new ones are 25mm. that would be good when I replace.

I've found the secret to Conti 28's -at least the 4000 series- is to adjust the air pressure downward until they feel smooth. For me at 185 pounds, that's around 80.

Bucking the trend of wider tires, I ordered another pair of 27x1 Paselas for my Miyata 310. I don't have any gravel nearby and the roads here are pretty good.

Good point and a reminder to fiddle around with air pressure. When I used to ride Continentals, I liked the air pressure at 80 as well. I carried that over when I switched to Michelins. After about 5 years, I discovered that the Michelins ride a lot better (for me) at 100 psi.

Not really sure what they'll be going on, but I picked up a set of Schwalbe G-One Speed 650b x 50mm tires on sale over the winter. Likely they're destined for a frame I don't own yet!

I have not noticed this. Here I am running 25s on rims that are 17 inner/23 outer width. Pressure right around 100psi. For reference I'm 150-155 lbs.

I believe in 'purpose focused' individual components and have also envisioned bikes solely based on a component (condorino handlebar bike, most recent project) - but never bought a tire for bike I didn't own.

Congrats Neil - either forward looking, advanced planning for N+1, or just too budget minded to pass up a Sale item that might be useful in the future - if I buy the right bike.

Relative to Conti 5000 in 25mm width = I guess I'm too VeloFlex'd to believe a smooth ride requires a drop of ~20psi (for this 190# rider). Great durability for the 5000 could allay my bit of disappointment.
