Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Free crown race setter. Spare bit of 1 1/4" pipe and an old headset cup.

Three years after the overhaul, the Schwinn has just gone through another transformation.

Renovated using parts I have accumulated over the years, as I upgraded other bikes.

This round:

Shimano 105 5800 drivetrain (except Campy Chorus 12/27 cassette)
Tektro R536 calipers
Profile Design threadless conversion
Specialized 12 degree mulit-angle stem
Specialized shallow drop aluminum bar
Saddle: Specialized Toupe Comp
FSA chainrings - 50/34, added to original SR Sakae SX spider
Kalloy Uno seatpost
Continental TopContact winter tires (for now)
Custom wheelset: I built these for another bike that got an upgrade.

Wheelset spec:
32R/28F
Kinlin XC279 rims
Sapim Race spokes, Sapim poly-ax brass nipples
Novatec hubs: A291SB front, F482SB-11 (Campy FH) rear

Weighs about 24.5 pounds

Who can say. I had this set laying around and it was more interesting than standard drops.
