Vodka or Rum?

Going ketogenic makes me miss my beer. When this crazy redneck needs a drink I must get me a drink I rarely drink liquor but since I can have some carb-less alcoholic beverages within reason I need some suggestions. Like what a good mixing combo would be? Diet Coke and rum sounds good. Some of you mixologists please give me some cool concoctions.

Vodka is boring, and so are a lot of light rums like Bacardi. Captain Morgan is fine -- if you're still in college. My go-to rum is Pusser's. Barrel-aged, and a bit funky from the distillation process. No artificial vanilla flavoring or cheap spices needed to give it wonderful flavor for cocktails or just plain sipping.

If you're being strict, it's neither. But, we're human and I can totally relate. Vodka would be my choice. Or bourbon.

I’m thinking just buying some Moonshine and mix it with sugar free Hawaiian Punch and just forget about it You all know the trash can punch days and don’t lie. I will give both a try with those sample liquors that people sneak into concerts and ballgames.

When I went keto I switched from beer to straight up bourbon or gin. Neat.

If avoiding caffeine or sugar, I do similar to what @frankenmike mentions.

Either straight bourbon in a glass, or straight bourbon over some ice, or bourbon on ice with some water, or even just a long swig straight out of a bottle of bourbon. Got to get your breathin' right when taking long swigs out of the bottle . . . the lungs don't like it much.

12 year old, single Malt Scotch. Straight. Maybe a wee drop of water or a single ice cube if you insist.

To our employees, if you must drink please drink whiskey and not vodka so that our customers know you are drunk and don't think you are stupid.

Thank you,

Bought a case of Michelob Ultra Light I said I would never buy that D Bag beer but I did. Tastes good and keeps me on track. Now only if they make the tv commercials with men and women hunting and fishing and getting dirty it would be more appealing. I don’t need to see metro males with giant polished teeth acting like school girls. They hike up a hill only the have a full ice chest full of Michelob? Like who hauled it up there? A mule? or a helicopter?

I've largely given up beer and wine makes me ill. I do, however, celebrate all juices of the barley, corn, cane and wheat.

If you give me a choice between vodka and rum, that's easy: rum all day, every day. Rum is an ancient drink with endless variety and wildly differing flavors. Vodka is just grain alcohol under a different name.

Personally, I'll drink only one drink if I'm drinking, so it better taste good. If we're talking rum, I like a funky Jamaican pot still rum the best. Funky stuff can be a bit much in cocktails (sometimes) but straight it's delicious. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy making cocktails a great deal. I've been on a Mai Tai kick this holiday season and have been trying to perfect a recipe. Rum cocktails are an entire world: Zombies, Navy Grog, Rum Runners etc.

Pusheen on the beer fridge.

My daughter's room is overrun with Pusheen. Gonna have to build a Pusheen bonfire when she graduates college.
