is it time for a "What Winter?" thread for the ppl who are longing for more cold & snow that we have been getting this winter? feel like we are getting off scot-free this year

We only had maybe one week of temperatures around 0°f this year I don't mind the snow when it's above 25° like it has been.

Makes me suspicious of a late spring. Going to do a larger charity ride on February 1st, that will be the first time I've ridden the bike this year

Hey, we're about 52 days until the official start of spring (note leap year on February 29 this year), and here on Route 38 North (Metro-North Boston) we've gotten about 13 inches of snow, most of which has melted already. The average snow fall for this time of year is 42 inches

As already noted, the American elm and red oak have taken toward early buds. The crocuses are sprouting up. It's not even February yet.

No word on any "Polar Vortex" as mild temperatures have been having around the upper 30s or low to mid 40s.

Disclaimer: I'm an Arizona boy living N of SLC.

Although we've had plenty of snow, even along the commute, today was the first day I really had to deal with it since they generally do a good job plowing and salting the roads. I think the rain we've had the last week (it's been in the low 40s) washed most of the salt off the roads.

Plowing to work in a 1/2 inch of snow in a velomobile definitely increases the workout! Between the noticeably added resistance, and the rear tire spinning, I think my five mile commute was more like 7-8!

Up here above the 45th it’s been an easy winter. Meaning, no blizzards and power outtages, no subzero arctic blasts, just really mild and wonderful. Winter rides have been pleasant to the point of it almost being fun to go out at night for a cruise. Certainly has robbed me of any excuses for staying inside.

Too much snow this morning to ride through.

I would guess there were 3-4 inches in the level spots, but all kinds of weird ridges and hidden stuff because the winds have been howling since about 6 pm yesterday.

They've plowed the streets now, so I should be able to ride tomorrow. Wed is supposed to be in single digits, which is the coldest I've ridden. I'll have to see how I do.

I'm pretty pissed. I broke my neck in October, which led to 3 months in a hard collar and now at least two more of PT before I'm back on the bike. It should be super crappy cold rainy windy weather with occasional snow and ice - perfect for recovering from an injury. But this mild winter's killing me.

Yep. We had a bit of snow and cold in November, nothing really since. My winter bike still looks perfect, usually by now it is a mess. Had a feeling, glad I skipped the studded tires this year.

Denver hit 74º on Sunday, then dropped to overnight lows in the 20s within 24 hours. Way out west we didn't fare much differently.

It was 81º here on Sunday, then immediately dropped into the low 50s for highs, with fairly high winds and overnight frost warnings.

Currently 38º with 15-20mph winds from the north. I know that's not winter for most of y'all, but for us that's plenty cold. We're built for heat!

They need to rework their graphic. SoCal is having the coolest February since 2012. We've usually gotten a few days in the 80s by now, but we got just the one. Woke up to 36º this morning. Winter, for us.

They did say parts of the country were going to "buck the trend." Another example was Northeast Maine.

We're lucky to get into the 40s here in the Metro Boston area, although 50s are not out of the question

Brr hit -10°f today, from a high near 40° yesterday! Had 30mph winds to add insult to injury. Coldest it's been so far for us, but it will be 40s again over the weekend.

I got a proper winter day fat bike ride last weekend, 15° to start off. I couldn't believe it, but I sunburned my face and nose because it was so sunny and reflected from the snow

just got the 1st of 4 summer tires for my car in the mail today. 3 more on the way. I buy "preowned". don't wanna wear out my winter tires more than I have to. recently put studs on my MTB but those might stay on until that sneaky, shady, woodland ice clears

10 day forecast is not bad, a cpl cold nites but so what

I can speak for myself here, winter cycling was thrust upon me when my car died four years ago. I will take a mild winter or two any year, over Snow-Meggedon, until I can "dig out" my savings account and save up for a down payment

I feel you man, my son is driving my 93 yr old Dad's '94 Camry. we got the car for free & the insurance company doesn't want to insure it for collision, just liability, so it's like $400 a yr to insure. that thing is hanging on ... but one of these days the proverbial shoe will drop & he's gonna have to dig deep
