1985 Specialized Expedition

What's a fair price for a 1985 Specialized Expedition frame in good condition. Paint is looking good, decals are there and in near perfect shape. Just the frame is what I'm interested in, not a complete bike. Is $325 reasonable? Thanks!

Yes that’s a good price, especially if there’s no shipping costs on top of this. Looks like the internal wiring may be snipped at the ends but I don’t think that’s a value killer.

Is this a 62? I own one of these as well and the frame is roached. I’ll probably spend a lot more than $325 to make it presentable again.

I'm confused.....again. Is it $325 for the bike, or just the frame.

Just the frame. I don't need the components so I've inquired at what the price for the frame would be and I was told $325

I think it's on the high side. The prices for touring bikes, all bike for that matter, have come down a lot in last few years. But, I wouldn't let a few dollars stop me if it was something I really wanted.

Agreed that this is high for just the frame. I thought from the pics that this price was for the complete bike. That's a good deal. Just F/F (and HS?) not so much. You can do better.

That was my thought as well, that it might be on the hide side, but I'm looking for this specific bike in this specific size so I wanted to make sure I was in the realm of acceptable if I spent a little more than was warranted. Thanks!

This is one of the more desireable bikes from the golden age of touring bikes. It is more than I would like to pay for the frame. That said if it were my size and I wanted it, I would think about paying somewhat more than what I thought would be the FMV. It's not as if these bikes show up all that often. On the plus side, finding period correct parts--if that is what you want--will not be expensive. There are a lot of 110/74 bcd square taper cranks out there and there are a lot of deore quality derailleurs out there.

Ik actually looking to outfit it will modern components and what not. Will need to coldset the rear fork, but that's easy enough. I wanted this specific bike, preferably in an '83 but I don't think those came with with braze ons for the shifters which I'll need to use for the bfirters I'll be putting on, so the '85 will be the ticket. As you said, they don't come up often.

The full bike in this condition can fetch $600-$800. I still believe the frameset is a fair deal at $325.
