Hwy 1 from Bodega Bay to Walsh Landing

The wife and I are looking for a cooler cycling area until this triple digit nonsense leaves our area and noticed this (potentially) nice ride along the coast. Does anyone here have any direct knowledge of the dynamics along this route ? Shoulder width?, hills?.

Most of it is fine. Maybe not always a real wide shoulder but not scary bad. Very nice riding, usually with a headwind if you’re going north, though.

The one section I’ve only driven but not ridden is from Jenner to Fort Ross. This is called “Dramamine drive” because it goes high up above the ocean and the views down to the ocean can be quite unsettling. I’m sure somebody else will comment on riding it.

As an alternative you can do Meyers Grade/Ft. Ross. You’ll be away from the traffic but there is still a big hill to climb and Ft. Ross Road is either a steep climb or a technical descent. No joke either way.
