'89 Ford Crown Vic LX, originally a 351W-VV (Variable Venturi 2-barrel), now bored/stroked to 395 inches. That pic was taken when it was still a mid-13-second emissions-test-legal ride that pumped out 380hp. Now that it is age exempt, I bumped things up a bit - now somewhere north of 610hp at the crank. AND it is still street legal.

Lol...I have always appreciated a sleeper.............

Once I win the big lotter I'd probably do something like that and buy a Grand National.....still a soft spot for those.

Just get the more understated Regal T-Type. Same car as the GN at a fraction of the price! Waaaaay back in '85, I was trying to decide between a Regal T-Type (I couldn't afford the Grand National) and the Ford T-bird Turbo Coupe. I got the Turbo Coupe because I wanted a stick shift - and the insurance was cheaper than the T-type (GM mid-size of the '80s were VERY popular theft items!)

I’m glad to see some good activity level ahead of me at “65,” and not BEHIND!!

I don't know about anyone else in here, but i have my eye on that 100+ age group hour record. With 38 years to prepare, I'm not even planning on buying a track bike for 30 years.

60 years/240+ seasons now. One student, last year, asked if I even own a car? "Yes", dear, "but I don't like to drive it and make every excuse not to."

Oh, I have my truck, too... '95 F250 XLT ext cab long bed.

OLDER than my previous truck (a '97 F250HD ext cab shortbed - note the dark blue-green truck to the front of this one), and with more miles, but NO RUST!! Both are 7.5L (460ci) rwd. '97 was a shortbed extended cab, gold one is 8 'bed ext cab. We bought the green '97 new for just $20k out-the-door, sold it last year with only 124k miles. Gold truck was purchased in Tampa area but 165k miles. Engines/transmissions I can rebuild, rust - not-so-much...

Mental age? For some strange reason, I still think that I'm in my late 20s -- until I look in the mirror!

I'm 66 and my wife Jo is 67, she's type 2 diabetic and has had two heart attacks (1 major/1 minor) since Feb. 2019 and we still love to ride and since we retired on our meager SS retirement income we gave up our 30 year old Ford Ranger PU truck and are carless! built a utility trailer to get food and larger items.

I lied and said 50-55. I am not quite 50, but as the saying goes, 'you're only as old as you feel'... come to think of it, can I redo the survey and select 76-80?

82 plus

I’m 82, and just voted – catapulting us up to a whopping 2%!!!

I’m glad I saw the age distribution chart. I now know why I’ve seen so few posts from senior riders. I was riding 6 or 7 metric centuries each season, until the pandemic cancelled everything in 2020. I was already restricting myself to routes that had a maximum 3000 feet of climb. Now I’ve spent the last 2 years trying to maintain enough fitness to resume century rides if they return in ’22.

My fitness efforts were interrupted in March ’21 when my bike (Specialized Sirrus Elite) was stolen. I thought that I’d treat myself to a new bike, maybe with some custom re-gearing to help me on the hills – but in March ’21 there were no new bikes☹. I was stuck searching the used market, and stumbled onto a cyclecross build. It was too big for me, but it was basically a road bike with flat bars, and a 50/34 x 11/42 (11 speed) gearing. The low granny gear was nearly perfect, and the flat bars suited me because I have a severely deformed left arm and hand. The thumb shifters work better for me, and my left arm prevents me from going down onto the drops anyway. The too-big frame and 175mm cranks are for a man 6” taller than me - but the gearing was such a fantastic improvement for my 82 yo legs that I’m still riding it 6 months later. I’m now climbing most of my hills sitting down.

This experience has left me wondering if more riders over 70 would keep riding if they had bikes with gearing appropriate for their fitness level. Off-the-shelf bikes in the LBS have gearing optimized for bike jocks in their 30’s and 40’s. But…., that’s a subject for a different thread.

I'm 55 and due to the pain and stiffness of arthritis I feel like I’m pushing 75 I’ll ride my fatty 6-7 miles and I’m hurting. I’ll do some necessary work around the house and its agony

I really wish I could get something for the pain.
