What I didn't count on was the number of acorns that would fall into the pool.
Our current pool is in full sun all day, and has a dark bottom. Even with that, the water temp rarely gets higher than the mid-80s. Of course, the cooling effect is directly related to the temperature differential between the air and water.

We built a house and pool in 2000. When we were doing the landscaping, I bought and planted a live oak tree on one side of the pool. The landscaper told me not to do it (what do they know) as it would shade the whole pool when it was mature. I asked him how long that would be, and he said about 30 years. My response was that by then I would be in my 70s and would likely enjoy the shade.
What I didn't count on was the number of acorns that would fall into the pool.

We bought the house 11 years ago, and the pool was already there. I wouldn't choose to build a pool in my yard. Ironically, my company builds pools.
This is the kind of pools we build (Occidental College, Los Angeles)...

Location, location, location. The nature of our weather and our seasons makes the months very different for us. Give me April and May, maybe June, and September and October if there's no smoke. July and August are too cold and windy.

Last night was probably the worst night of my life, and what makes even worse, I will have to experience again and again until June 2nd.
Long story short I am operating on zero sleep on my first of only 2 days off.

My first real race bike was a LeMond Zurich. Very nice ride. I wish I still had it.

Maybe I'll HTFU this weekend, ride over there, and see if the story checks out. See if they need a consultant to show them what a proper bicycle looks like.

Here's a bunch of belated replies:
Played the audio from this concert at the shop early last week. Made for a good day
I saw David Byrne's "American Utopia" tour in Chicago a few years ago. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
I got tested for free without a long wait Wednesday 1/13. Received results early this morning 1/21 . Positive
bam's new job is flying a 737, not an Airbus, IIRC
Whenever SSS and I go somewhere, I find myself taking one or two pictures of any interesting places we go just so I can scroll back through an album and remember what things looked and felt like.
