Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At the beginning of this run announcer says, "Julia is an East Coaster. And we're used to this kind of weather . . . it can be brutally cold. She just needs to tap back into her roots. She may have gotten soft training in Colorado."

Quality.

I'm recovering, albeit slowly. I thought I would ride a bike today, just to town and back, but after 15 minutes in the wood shop, that plan was nixed.

As some here know, my son is a power lifter and routinely dead lifts and squats ~625#. Well, he said he started a dead lift and noticed his form was a little off but kept going. His elbow area “exploded.” I took him to an emergency orthopedist this morning who confirmed torn tendon(s) requiring surgery as soon as possible. They showed him sonograms of both of his arms and even he could see the devastation in his damaged arm. Like any amateur athlete, he’s devastated. He had several meets lined up this Spring.

Time to hit the trainer. Probably won’t see clean pavement for several days yet.

Mrs datlas has put up a couple birdfeeders which attracts other critters. This provides extra entertainment for Jackie.

Wow, sorry to hear! Biceps tendon? Friend of mine tore his completely off the muscle, grinding a winch, but ultimately came back 100% and he was a lot older than your son. Said it didn’t even hurt much.

you are welcome.

I've noticed at work I've been making mistakes. I'm not sure if it's the pain meds that dull my thinking but not my pain, the normal aging process making me less sharp, or early onset dementia. I'm going to lie to myself and blame it on the pain meds.
