hello dear all,

did you ever try to create your own framebag - eg like the folks describe here

a. here - this guy created a Framebag - made out of a IKEA-Hack: https://imgur.com/a/FlIg3
b. here ; https://www.pinterest.de/pin/544583779947409791/ - the guys created a rolltop-framebag - zipperless
c. here https://www.pinterest.de/pin/418975571574965274/ - also a frambegag - rolltop and zipperless - DIY

I just like all those ideas and wanted to ask you if you have some experience in creating your how gear

look forward ,,,

No I have not.

This might help you, but you may notice that the forum only gets rare posters.

I made my own frame bag. I repurposed some Cordura from an old stuff sack. I made mine a roll top which was way easier than trying to add a zipper.

I started by making a template out of cardboard.

If you're going to make a roll top, be sure and make the top extra long. I barely made my top long enough to roll over. A little too long might've been better.

Another thing to consider. I used velcro loops to attach it to the frame. If I could do it again, I might've also added some inserts and used the water bottle bracket bolts to cinch it to the frame.

Btw: The drybags on the forks are also attached via a DIY system as is the roll top bag under the downtube which holds a 1 liter water bottle.

Repurposing is probably a good idea. One problem is sourcing all the specialized notions, buckles, zippers. snaps, etc. for gear.

good day dear Pratt

many thanks for the reply - and for sharing your thougths.

Yes repurposing - this is a absolutly great idea. I love it. And i think that mtnbud made a great job.

Well - i think if we create a Roll-Top Frame-Bag then we can do this zipperless. cf the examples:

Yes, we made the black center bag for our tandem. Made a cardboard template, ordered all parts/fabric from rockywoods. Great to make stuff that is used on bike.
