2012 Rockshox Recon Silver TK - questions

Picked up a 2012 mountain bike with a Rockshox Silver TK, there is a allen wrench type tool/adjuster in one of the legs for adjusting the rebound rate that pulls out easily.

Question, should this remain in place or comes out and a cap etc. is installed during riding ?

It should remain in place, it’s just removed for access to the foot nut for servicing the fork.

It should click into place, taking just a timy bit of pulling to get it out. If it just slides off easily enough that you think it might just fall out when riding, there may be an o-ring missing (not sure of the design on that fork, but I have several other RS forks from around that era).
