1988 Schwinn Cimarron XL Vintage MTB
Configured to sell
This bike was built up from a NOS frameset in fall of 2020. The frame shows signs of shelf wear but was bought as new by me. It has some paint chips but no rust. There is one very small and subtle ripple in the seat tube. I am hesitant to call it a dent because the paint in this area is undisturbed and the clear coat is unharmed. I have tried to include up close pics but it is hard to capture on camera. I didn’t notice it myself until trying different FD options one day. It in no way effects the structure of the bike and I believe it occurred during the manufacturing process. Overall the bike is gorgeous.
Measurements and components:
Top tube(ctc):58cm
Seat tube center of the crank to top of the tube): 56cm
Reach:approximately 60cm
Standover:83cm w/ 26x1.95 tires
Chainstay: a comfortable 45cm!!!
Crankset: Shimano MT60 175mm
Shifter/levers: XC Sport combo
RD/FD:Suntour XC 9000
Stem: sakae through cable
Handlebars: Nitto B801 63.5cm width high rise(super comfortable)
Brakes: Shimano M550
Wheelset: Araya rm-20 rims laced to Shimano Deore XT m730 14g hubs. 30-13 5 speed Shimano cassette

thanks for working with me, this was the #1 bike on my list and first venture into Mountain bikes
This bike is an awesome addition to my 80’s Schwinn/Trek Line up!
the ‘87/‘88 lineup includes a pristine Tempo, Prelude, Super Sport, Premis, Traveller, LeTour. Also have a “ ‘87 pristine trek 520 and a couple ‘80 Chrome Voyageurs. Also have a NOS ‘84 Voyageur and NOS ‘’81 LeTour framesets coming.
Some tough decisions ahead to thin the heard.
