Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Velo Vol You’ll be happy to know that I rode by several pumpkin fields and they look pretty good. I even posted a pic on my Strava activity today. Some fields are just starting to blossom and then the pumpkins will begin to grow. First harvest will begin in September.

Glad I check my tires before every ride - I just pulled a shard of glass out of the rear. May just swap them this weekend; the rear is getting squared off.

Or maybe I'll see how long they can go. There's certainly plenty left on the wear indicators.

Why are they so small? Because it was cold until June?

I’m not sure they are small but if they are, there could be a couple reasons. We had a very wet spring and a lot of our crops got planted late. Second, the field in the pic is in one of the last areas to be harvested so it was probably planted later than the first fields to be picked.

Very possible!

I was surprised as well.

They did perform quite well on my ride tonight - probably the best in a while. So I guess I'll just see if they glaze over again.

Tonight was pretty lovely. Wife made a tomato pie and we spent a lot of time out on our balcony.

Comet NEOWISE is also quite pretty through binoculars.

That text "FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY" might suggest it's a get-you-home solution, not for long-term as you were asking earlier.

I've never had tomato pie and will have to do some research. Dang, that looks very good.

Do I need a special knife to make it?

I'm still gonna try patching it with a tube patch, possibly inside and out.

Bad HRV numbers again this morning after yesterday's TT.

I think the street is a little wet, but I don't feel like checking.
