Nada for me today.....wind, rain and hail! It's only a matter of time before the snow starts flying.
My stationary bike is gonna see more action the next few months....

Not quite 17 miles today on a route that took me over both local rail-trails and through a couple of parking lots, past trailer parks and the stately homes of the local Robber Baron Row. Really liking the Egg Beaters on my Mercian!

I was hoping to get my "new to me" Roll2 out for SSS but it's pouring out, windy (70km gusts) and cold. Snow flurries are forecasted.
I think Old Man Winter is settling in for the next few months.

Nice bike^^^

Temps reached 71 so I took the Mercian for a ramble over 27 miles. I ran into a couple of riders out on the road and joined them for several miles before splitting off for the ride home.

Went for a ride in the neighbourhood on my Roll2 for SSS. It was overcast, 10 Celcius (50F) but dry!
My neighbour flagged me down so I ended my ride for a Cigar and JD. I'm a weak person......lol

Crazy holiday schedule meant that multiple lovely sunny days went by without a ride. I remedied that today with a quick afternoon Hodges-and-back jaunt on the Mercian fixed-gear and took a moment to grab this photo right as the rain started. Two miles later I stopped to take my rain jacket off.

20 miles right around sunset last night. Glad I didn't stay out any longer, my toes were protesting the temperature quite loudly by the end!

Milder Sunday

Over 5C, did 28km, and was glad of the mudguards due to the slush.

Family, schedules and weather have kept me off the bike for nearly a month, but today I got in a 14 mile ramble on the Mercian fixed-gear, so all is well with the world. This time I grabbed a snap of the forest service fire tower - maybe next time I’ll focus on the numerous abandoned houses that are hidden by foliage most of the year!

Where is everybody?

Today’s high temps were in the mid-50s, so my ride buddy and I met up at the fountain downtown for a ramble aboard, both of us aboard custom Mercian fixed-gears - and of course neither of us got pix together. We did, however, do an old loop we used to ride 15 years ago. I managed these pix of the Cambridge Park trail on the way home, and I guess they’ll have to do - and now I have my year’s mileage started with 26.8. Viva 2021!

I would have posted this yesterday, but my account restrictions got in the way. Oh well!

Mid 50s for January would be alright.. yesterday around here it was more like 30F.. Which isn't too bad, really.

When I looked out the window in the morning, I saw fresh snow and quiet roads. I knew I had to go experience it.

Happy Sunday!

20 miles today at 25°F. Definitely didn't want to be out any longer than that.

I have a 650b wheel on the front since there's no clearance for a brake caliper with 700c and I'm not comfortable riding without a brake.

Just waiting on some hubs and spokes to arrive and this will be running 650b x 38 Pari-Motos front and rear

I just did 14.3 miles. I don't like this cool/cold weather riding. I'd rather it be 100 degrees out there....but only when I'm biking.

A day late and no pix - but Sunday I managed to get in 14 miles over the usual Hodges-and-back route. The day was improved by encountering four different cyclists, one of whom was riding a lovely vintage '80s mid-grade machine. The temperature was balanced at that point where you don't quite want to take the jacket off, but you don't want it zipped up, either. Wool is a very good thing for winter jerseys! The Mercian ran flawlessly, as always.

I try to get out if it’s at least freezing. No pics, but I had a nice hilly ride today at 35F on my old Schwinn “road” bike. About 15 miles.

It was snowing when I started but it quit soon after. Roads and paths were just wet, except all the trail/pedestrian bridges that still had some degree of slush and ice from the last snow.

I was eager to ride the “road” bike, having just switched to a quill stem adapter and the same, much longer (135mm) stem I have on the MTB. That stem that works better with the touring bars I run on both bikes.

'Militärvelo 05' 27 clicks (kms)

Took my Swiss military bike out as snow has mostly cleared from paths, I am still appreciating the mudguards!

It's gotta be spring somewhere else too?

Just 8 kms, but I had company.

Hope spring has sprung where you are.

We are still waiting to be released from Arctic hell. Apparently February bumped in line and came last month, so we had January this month.

Shady parts of roads and all paths and trails are still hardback snow and ice, but it got above freezing yesterday for the first time in weeks, and things should be back to some form of muddy bliss in a week or so.
