Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

In my experience they have a shelf life of roughly 9 months if you sweat. I’m never ordering another Wahoo.

I ordered some stuff from Ass Savers. After a long delay in shipping due to weather, it arrived like this.

They shipped it in a bag… perhaps not the correct choice.

Awaiting a response from them- I’m certainly not going to call Sweden.

Yea this one is a couple of years old and up until say, 7 or 8 months ago, worked flawless. Then I started getting these weird reading, where it would start at 225 right off the bat. I replaced the battery, and updated the firmware and that seem to correct the issue for a short spell, but I started to have issues where it would not connect, or my Stages bike, would not recognize it, but the Wahoo app saw it. Neither my Wahoo or Garmin head unit would pick it up, so I deleted it, re-install it, stuff would start working again. Then yesterday, after I have been sick for the past week, I thought, I feel much better, let me do a 5 mile course on my Stages bike to see what my body is going to tell me, and this stupid thing does not read it. I basically ripped it off, tossed in the trash can and placed my order for my Garmin strap which I received about 2 hrs ago which gets recognized by everything.

I had a early generation Garmin strap for 10 to 12 years, that worked like a champ until it did not, but I had won a Wahoo Elemnt v1 and HR in a raffle, so I figure, no need to buy a new Garmin strap, this Wahoo works great, live and learn. As I was researching the issues through the months, I was not impressed with what I was seeing about Wahoo's newer generation HR. So yea, I will stick with Garmin until they become unreliable.

Put a 50% deposit down on a custom titanium road bike frame from Waltly. Supposed to take about two months to get done, so I should be able to build it up in mid-late April if all goes well.

If we're talking about things I currently have in hand, a new Magene headlight.

my polar chest strap based HR monitors seem to get dodgy after about 400 hours of use, give or take. they seem to become much more finicky about conductivity and battery strength a bit before that.

Interesting. Too bad it does not utilize the same transmitter.

Yea I found that same thing when I used to use Polar many moons ago. The polar HR stopped getting picked up, then the head unit just died, but I think it was due to the head unit, as I got caught is some massive rain, and it was never the same after that.

mine always seem to connect with a fresh battery, but return obviously bogus values, often half the real HR. the signal from the electrodes probably gets noisier over time or something as the strap flexes and gets sweated through etc?

Got me a set of Hoono wheels for the Prelude from the co-op. Now I just need red pedals, and the last red cable housing, and it's done.

Bont shoes

Size 48 Bont Riot shoes. Used but in good condition and only $40 from eBay. I mainly got them so I can decide if a 48 fits me or if I need a 49. If they fit, I'll use them this year and then upgrade to a better model later otherwise back on eBay they go and I'll order a fresh pair in size 49. Hopefully win-win.

Know that cassette well. I've used that and the 12-25, perfect for our Florida needs.
