I think if you wanted to deal with what is involved with parting it out, you could get your $50 back. While I wouldn't want it because the dent would drive me nuts, I don't think the frame is going to fold up on you sending you to the ER or dentist. Long story short if it was local to me and I wanted the parts I would be on it.

In fact there is a U0-8 near me for $55 that I'm seriously thinking about buying just for the parts.

Call me a snob if you like but I wouldn’t go near this even without the dent.

Once overhauled it would be an OK culdesac cruiser with the kids.

I think this is an Aztec Silver ‘84 with HiTen frame, shipmano BRZ brakes and 503 derailleurs. I believe he Crankset is swedged, and the rear wheel is very likely a replacement as the catalog only list the front as QR.

As to parting this out? I think you’d be upside down pretty quick

I'm with BG here. Anymore, I choose my projects carefully. I run out of time before I run out of stuff to work on. If it had some good parts, I would buy just for the parts. But this time, parts are nothing special either.

And yes, bikes, like other exercise equipment, are often bought with the best plans in mind, but then sit. These bikes can eventually end up being donated, sold at a garage sale, or even curbed. I've found hundreds of such bikes. All need thorough maintenance. Overall condition is all about how the bike was stored over the years.

I've parted out my share of bikes. In order to make sense, the bike has to have desirable parts.

Thanks for all of the interest. Looked at it last week and the rear derailleur kept slipping to different gears. Might have been just a matter of adjusting the cables but I just don't feel like fooling with adjusting gears. Had enough frustration with that with a newer bike. Plus the straps on the clip pedals were dry rotted and the buckles were rusted. The bike itself while ugly was actually pretty light and would have been a nice commuter. It's still for sale in North Georgia. The guy who was selling the bike "fixes bikes". But obviously doesn't ride them. He insisted there was nothing wrong with it and that the derailleur works fine " on the stand.". I just moved on.

There is a guy selling bikes in my area. He does all the repair work, and his repairs are bad. The key with him is buy a bike BEFORE he does his repair work. I've bought several of those from him. The few "finished" bikes I bought from him suffered from stuck seat posts and stems, crap tires, no bearings serviced, etc.

Go to your local supermarket. Saunter down the frozen food aisle and pick out a delicious pizza for less than $10. Shimmy over toward the adult beverage section and select a premium six-pack of Budweiser for $7. Glide blithely to the self-checkout and swipe or tap to exit. There! You did it.

Frozen Pizza never. A Pie can only be fresh I used to drink Bud all the time but recently Guinness only. About the bike in my market that bike would command at least 100 because of the name parts are becoming hard to come by so asking 50 try to get for 30 35.

We have a Bianchi like that at the Bike Exchange . It is a tank. Definitely a low end model. Without the dent worth about $50.
There are hundreds of bikes by other companies that are as nice or nicer than this that should be priced about the same.
That said, if the price is right , it should be serviceable, just don't expect Bianchi like performance or quality.
If you are handy you can roll out the dent in the top tube with nothing more than a vice and a block of hardwood.
Drill a hole through the block then saw in half.
Clamp the frame and block in a vice then roll the frame back and forth till the dent mostly disappears. I have done this a couple of times and it does work.
You will damage the paint and will still need to use some surfacing putty to completely fill the dent, then paint.
If the bike were a high end model this would be worth doing. On your example probably not unless you do it for fun.
