Stupid pet tricks, cadence sensor question...
My wife has a non bicycle health rider/glider machine. It used to count her cycles/strides during use and time. But it has died.
I'm curious if a cadence sensor could be used in a walking app to measure the "strides"?
As the original electronics are more than 10 years old, there is no suitable replacement and she doesn't like any of the similar exercise machines she has tried so far.

If she has an iPhone, the built in Health app has a pedometer section that will do that for her. Captures her stride and the number of steps and saves the data. I'm sure that the Android phones have a similar app but I'm not sure what theirs is called.

Current Samsung phones use Samsung Health.. I hadn't considered that.

As already mentioned, modern flagship smartphones can count your steps with the built-in accelerometer. This does affect battery life.
You could get her a wearable smartwatch, e.g. Fitbit or Garmin.
If you're looking for something more sports-oriented, you can get a cadence sensor like https://www.amazon.com/Wahoo-Cycling...dp/B00L9XNFPY/ and get it streaming data to Zwift.

I'd rather just ride and not fiddle with this kind of stuff, as my schedule is so tight that the time spent fiddling ends up being time not spent on riding.
