Advice on Upgrade

Hi all, I have a 2011 trek 1.2 and i believe it is time to upgrade the crankset. it currently has a FSA Vero, 50/39/30 (triple) with a SRAM PG-950 11-26, 9 speed Cassette. I need advice as to what i can upgrade this to. I don't know if i should stay with the 3x9 or change to something else Please advice

Thanks

Why do you feel the need to upgrade the crankset? What is your current crankset not doing that you want it to do?

Do you use all the chain rings? What gear combinations do you usually use?

Likely you might have trouble finding triple chain rings nowadays ... but if you went with a double, depending on what gearing you need, you might have to get a new cassette too.

I personally feel that, while it's fun to do, most bicycle component upgrades don't make economic sense.

Maelochs the Crankset is pretty beat up, and the chainrings are pretty worn out they have about 25k ridden on it... Lately i can't shift to the 50T chainring, when pedaling hard i feel slippage and a hard thump noise i have to go down to the 39T Chainring fro smooth riding, dont know what the problem might be. I have also noticed the pedal arm hits the Front derailleur. i tried attaching a photo but it wont let me until i make 10 posts.

Well .... if the crank is hitting the derailleur and you can't shift into the top ring .... Your derailleur is twisted.

If the rings are really worn ("shark-finned," where the teeth are shaped like cartoon waves) then you might find it easier to replace the rings, not the whole crankset.

A quick web search shows---https://www.modernbike.com/shimano-50-39-30-cranksets that you can get a Sora (https://www.modernbike.com/shimano-s...t-not-included) for between $90 and $110 depending on crank length.

But .... the derailleur hitting the crank? That is a twisted derailleur, IMO. Not crankset wear.

I assume you have a threaded bottom bracket, in which case I would go with a Shimano Hollowtech II bottom bracket as well.

I suggest you take it to a shop. It doesn't seem likely this is something you should try to DIY.

On the one hand I want to praise @SArenas86 for taking the bike to a shop, and other other hand I want to warn him not to take advice from people like me on BF.
