Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You never know what kind of nut-job you are dealing with or if they have weapons in their car. The guy who accosted us on Tuesday got out of his car and walked toward the bank screaming at us. I stopped and started yelling back but did not use profanity and did my best to show what a dufus he was being to the cop who happened by. It was the first time in years I had an encounter with an idiot like that. I try to remember that they can kill us with their car if they choose.

I went to club #1 ridestart today. Not even 20 riders showed even though they are officially club rides again. There were 2 groups, even though the schedule had 5 rides. I was reluctant to go with the group doing the shorter ride (50 miles) but I had a good time despite myself. It was a pretty fast pace but I didn't get dropped. Glad I went but I came home fried and had to have a nap.

I went to give the boat a wash today, and found a cabin widow broken in two places from thermal cycling. Just helped a friend replace one on his Benny that did the same thing. That’s a $3k DIY project. ☹️

I was planning to advertise it for sale. Not sure what to do now as can’t see anyone wanting to buy that problem.

Damn. Sorry.

Buddy of mine has an exotic sarcoma that’s not responding to treatment and just put his boat up for sale. It’s always sad unless you’re getting something nicer or faster.

There are only two in the US for sale like mine. I may just advertise it $10k lower and say that’s to account for the problem, and see what happens.

Good thing is there is no need to sell, and it’s paid for. And, just paid annual slip fee.

Just haven’t been using it enough.

I guess I won't complain about needing a windshield in minivan #1 anymore. I don't think I'm gonna DIY it though.

Wasn’t going to accept your challenge, but right off the start outside my neighborhood I had a close call. I think that got the adrenaline going. All the way down Richmond Road I was holding 23-26 mph and I didn’t feel like I was working. Then on Monticello where no bike lane exist I had another Ass hole get right behind and blare his horn. About gave me a heart attack, caused the Adrenaline to spike again.
My legs didn’t start talking til I had about 5 miles left.
Got a bunch of PRs but bummed my average speed was still just under 20. The only times I was under 21 according to my computer were on both hills on monticello. Thought my Power would have been higher too, though that’s just an estimate.
Needless to say I woke up this morning feeling it going to do a super short spin session in preparation for tomorrow.

Yeah, I was a little surprised when I saw your ride map - I wouldn't have thought that evening drivers on some of those stretches would be terribly charitable.

And yes, your power estimate looks low. Have I mentioned that you should get a power meter?

The boat window is tinted plexiglass, about 11’ long, and curved. It is painted black on parts of the inside, and has a cutout for an opening port. The boat manufacturer is the only place you can get it, and they want about $3k for the window, port, and gasket. There is nobody I know that will come to the marina to do the work. I could take it to a yard about 40 miles away and have them do the work, but then I’d have to add about $1k each way to take the mast down, pull the boat from the water, haul it over and back with a large truck, put the mast back up, and then launch it.

Love sailing. Hate this type of stuff. The boat is getting old like it’s owner. 😔
