Addiction 2021.4

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bike ride achieved. Really overdressed at the beginning, but how can I complain about a late November ride in shorts and a short sleeve jersey?

Also my friend is letting me borrow a high zoot crabon rear wheel until my rims arrive. Makes this bike look absolutely ridiculous

I got in a bit of my daily Zwifting, hoping to offset some of the consumption that'll be happening later. After finishing one course, I decided to TT another short course. It was a decent 8 minute effort that left me a little queasy. Normally, I wouldn't think twice about it, but with my daughter hurling all morning, I can't help but wonder, at least a little bit, if I'm coming down with something, too. Ah, fun times!

Conditions much more inhospitable over the mountains in the quasi-north. I thought about maybe riding (despite relatives visiting) but there's a band of drizzle rolling through.

Turns out one of my buds from college is one of the balloon pilots for that particular balloon. It's something he does every year, even though he now lives in South Carolina!

I obviously didn't think things through last night - I finished off my bottle of Writer's Tears Irish Whiskey. That's a perfect cooking tipple for me and, with Thanksgiving-ish dinner preparations staring me in the face, I'll have to find a suitable replacement. Hurrumph.

Velo Vol trumpet alert:. Freddie Jones did the national anthem for the turkey day Cowboys game.

And they had one of the Dallas cheerleaders signing the words.

I did not enjoy either of the Alisha Keyes cuts. I did enjoy her backup band though.

I'm trying to think ahead. At the moment, I'm making space in the fridge for leftovers. 12 oz. at a time.

We are currently rich in good beer. Because it's too cold out to crave a cold one.

That's when you go for the heavyweight stuff, like Porter or Stout. It's the opposite of motor oil, where the hotter it is, the thicker you want it.

We had smoked turkey, which was OK. Wish I would've went to my friend's house though. He made oxtail...
