Ventilatory Threshold
Hi all,
I had Vo2 max tested the other day. It was 48. This is not amazing, but still 114% predicted for my age, sex, height. However, my VT1 was 44%. This is low. Anyone out there with knowledge understand what a low VT1 indicates and whether it's an issue? I get out of breath quickly with exertion. Not sure if that is what this means. Appreciate the feedback!

Welcome to the forum. I had never heard about VT1, but from what I read I find it interesting that they are apparently decoupled for you.

It seems a ratio of vt1/2 to VO2max can be indicative of aerobic fitness, or lack thereof. And an untrained individual might be able to pull a good VO2 max value due to higher recruitment of muscles that trained individuals do not do. From reading that stuff up there.
So, I wouldn't get too excited nor too worried if I were you.

I've certainly heard of people with a relatively low Vo2 max having a very high FTP in relation to their Vo2 max power. Like 90%+
I'm not that familiar with VT1 but I presume this means you are the opposite of the above people. I think the good news for you is that it is trainable, as is your Vo2 to a more limited extent. It might help to know more about your cycling history and what kind of riding you do?
