Then perhaps I should once again bring up my extended Tour D'Eroica concept. If you will recall, it involved riding Cino, then strapping on a few bags and riding to Eroica, then riding Eroica. Let's see now, we'd have two weeks and it's a mere 1,200 miles. That's less than 100 miles per day! Not only that, but we'd be so fit that we'd literally fly up Cedar Mountain. Now, where am I going to get that extra vacation time from?

To me, the green California Live Oaks against the grassy, yellow hillsides is the very definition of the California landscape. Wild flowers are wonderful and the greenery is great but I love the green trees against the yellow hills.

Growing up in the Central Valley, which is flat like Kansas, hot like Texas in the summer, and foggy cold like the PNW without the rain in the winter, every time I'd head to the coast I stared a lot at those green live oaks against the golden grassy hills and thought, "this would be a nice place to live".

I grew up in Livermore. which is just over the hill from Tracy, so I know about inland California hot. Not as hot as Bakersfield or Redding, but pretty damn close. I'll still take 100 and dry over 85 to 90 and humid. As a teenager I worked on a landscaping crew in temps up to 105 degrees with bone dry humidity, and it is no fun and no joke. But it beats dealing with humidity. It also convinced me that college and law school were the way to go. Working in an air conditioned office at a desk beats the stuffing out of swinging a pick in the heat. Or in the cold, for that matter.
I now live in Berkeley with its almost continuously temperate climate. I'm now officially a weather wimp. and I ain't moving.

I got my first vaccination on Feb. 6th and will be getting the second this Saturday. I had yet another round of radiation this past January for yet another round of an aggressive squamous cell carcinoma, and M D Anderson offered the vaccines for their patients.
If this happens, and I'm healthy, I may make the drive from Houston rather than trying to fly. I just don't like the idea of being trapped in an airplane for 4 hours or more with that many people. I also need to finish purchasing the rest of my vintage attire - I'm relatively new to the vintage scene.

I'm on the fence re the 9/12 reboot. Timing in September doesn't work out as well for me as April. Plus, I wonder to what extent it will be a scaled-down version. On the other had, I did just get my first vaccination shot on Saturday. Woo-hoo! The benefit of being an elementary school teacher. I'm out of shape, but at least I'll have the summer to get in some miles in before the event if I decide to go.
Does anyone have a sense of whether the shift to September is a permanent one, or will they try to return to early April in 2022? Next September (2022) will be my 20-year wedding anniversary, which may complicate things and give me more reason to try to make this year's event while I still can.

I haven't received any email communications about the new date from them, as I have in the past. Also, the My Eroica site doesn't show California in their upcoming events section.

I got my first vaccination on Tuesday. I am one step closer to Cambria in September! I just read that Ventura is getting 35000 more doses on Monday. I must say I am happily surprised that we are moving so fast . When I went to the hospital to get mine the line of us 65+ folks was steady . At least five people giving shots and it went fast. I was there less than an hour including the 15 minutes to see if there is a reaction. No side effect for me just a sore arm like tetanus shot. I am sure there are some that will not get the vaccine but what I saw gave me hope. I really want this event to happen, it is something I look forward to. Missing last year was necessary but I hope this year is on.

vaccination rates have ramped up in California. Per Los Angeles Times vaccine tracker, as of today, March 15:Updated March 15 7:33 p.m. Pacific
11,785,750 doses administered
+367,243 yesterday
21% of Californians have received a dose
https://www.latimes.com/projects/cal...-distribution/
interestingly, the # of vaccinations given daily was under 200,000 a few days ago so as supply, appointments and demand now ramp up, we have a fighting chance to get more and more Californians vaccinated faster. With today’s expansion of who can be vaccinated and appointments in some areas already taken or stretching into late April, people and public health seem to be hitting a stride together in getting this massive job done.
other stats can be found regarding how states are doing overall and recent 7 day avg case wise.

Eroica California 2022-where is it?
Hi I did the Eroica California 2019, in Cambria, and have just booked flights from the UK to be there for the 2022 event. However website info appears to be a mishmash from previous events. I'm looking to book a hotel so any confirmation of where it will be based this time would be appreciated. Many thanks Neil
