20 miles on a trail today. Temps in the 60s and smoke free sky in Utah . It was heavenly.

It’s all paved, no gravel. It’s usually well attended by 200-300 riders.

Late posting.
Did the hilly 43 K yesterday, beautiful day, but the wind really picked up on the return part.

Always grateful to be able to post this thread

What a morning to ride.
Pics to follow.

when I finish.
Had to comment before noon PNW std wonderful time.

Mostly missed a morning shower.

STOP - the asphalt plant!

Not only a nice country road - but = Free stuff, you don’t need.

Nothing better than a ‘good ole country road’

A country road is always better with a stream and ivy/mossy trees

Fall - refresh the colors

A safe selfie while rolling - just not perfect. Lightweight long sleeve wool feels just right on a cool overcast day.

Never did a ‘DNA-me’ test, but not likely Swiss. I was, however, National Ski Patrol for over a decade 53-65 years old. Coincidence worked in my favor.

Wish I could be more like Fabian.

edit: US National Ski Patrol. most recently at Snoqualmie Summit, Washington. Closest skiing to Seattle.
Here's another USNSP garment for when the weather gets colder

...and me as the 'tail-roper below

Did I?
Yep the hilly 63.3 km (39.3 miles) with 638 m (2093 ft) of ascent.

First of the 10+% climbs

Fellow e-biker ....Hi there!!How you're doing?

16% climb just ahead

First good downhill

And the next one.

First of 24 km of gravel

Through the woods down to the lake.

These are the sights one lives for!

All pictures (except the map) screen grabs from the Akaso EK7000 via VLC media player i.e. all the fiddling with the camera position paid off.

I had a really nice ride in and around Brunswick County, NC today. The skies were as clear a blue as you’d see in NC. Brunswick County is at the coast and will be our new home next year.

I met two other cyclists, Steve and Drew at a Subway in Supply. They were riding their bikes from Maine to Key West. We had a great time talking over lunch and they invited me to ride with them for a ways. We rode about 20 miles together and it was terrific!! Drew could really pump out the watts and was riding a steady 23 mph with a fully loaded 50 lb bike. Safe travels to those two!

What used to be tobacco fields are now grass sod farms. All the new houses are being sodded for instant yards.

Bright yellow flowers along the roads.

Where we’re staying is 10’ above sea level!

Took the Sports Tourer out for cool breezy ride around South Charlotte. So nice out I might just double-dip and go out again!

It was a beautiful day in Wayne, Greene & Lenoir counties in NC too. 33 miles this AM & not on steel for a change, and enjoying my new 53 big ring. It makes so much difference vs the 48 compact that was on this bike when I got it.

Service was a little slow though

Yes Siree, took SWMBO for a 44.+ km round trip on the e-bikes! Felt almost like a rest day at an average 25.7 km/h.

Jones Road is a slight diversion for ~3+mi paralleling the Cedar River Trail outside Renton.

I live about 5mi away on Cougar Mt. and about 750ft higher elevation. Some wahoooo descents getting there, and some climbs getting home.

19+ miles, no photos. Worst ride in many years, even worse than Labor Day, when the rider in front of me hung a U-turn without notice and kept going when she saw me and when I shouted.

The authorities closed a main drag to cars in Evanston - Ridge Road or Street - and opened it to bikers. I've never been part of that sort of ride, and it's a beautiful day, so I decided to try it out. Too many people, too many riders who can't keep their bikes going in a straight line, too many dawdlers in the left lanes, too many people passing without notice. I was scared the whole time I was on that street. Never again.

I decided to go West, since the wind was supposed to be WSW up to 20 mph. I figured I'd go West when I was fresh and exploit the tailwind on the way home. My head keeps telling me that a prediction of 'up to 20 mph WSW' means steady wind from WSW, even though I know that winds vary, especially close to an inland sea like Lake Michigan. Besides, I missed the part about gusts up to 30 mph; some gusts almost blew me over. As usual, the help from the tail wind does not make up for the hindrance of the headwind. Yeah, if I were in hilly country, I'd probably complain about the hills.

And yet I'm glad I rode.

After yesterday's e-bike ride with SWMBO I needed a little quicker turn on a shorty.

Slightly rolling with two climbs and descents ...... and a few turns

Orchards and fields

A nice little spin for a Sunday afternoon.

Not on steel again Sunday, an all AL weekend and the weather remained perfect for the City to Sea ride from Jacksonville to Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro

Well, it depends.
Weather & wind, destination, hills, quantity of snacks, good stops along the way, mid-ride lunch? with beer?, etc.

saddle time over miles for me.
some days are for a good meander.

…..just don’t stop for pics. Kills that average speed.

22 miles along the Blackstone River Path in North Rhode Island. Beautiful path with river always in view. A couple of waterfalls and some old mills that have been restored for both commercial and residential use. The path has a nice canopy so in a few weeks it will be even prettier with the fall colors. Perfect morning, grateful to have had this ride. Be well.

25+ miles, sunny, light wind, low 70s.Since I no longer like cold weather, I wore a windbreaker on the 2nd half of the ride (against the light wind) Man, 10 years ago I would have reveled at these temperatures....

I think I've ridden more miles this year than any other year since 2013. Unless I'm very unlucky, I'll hit 1200 miles for 2021 on my next ride, and I expect there will be more than a few days with good weather left this year.
