I finally broke down last year and put a bell as they were given free on "bike to work day!"
They do help most of the time, the dogs don't care unfortunately--75% of the time I start my rides on a MUP next to my house.
The "Oi" looks great but the price is rather steep for something that sound so similarly to the one I was given free!

I received my Oi a couple of days ago and had it installed today. Before I even got in the door I was making plans to have it removed and I haven't yet been out on the road! What are my complaints? Well, for one thing it sounds terrible! I opted for the titanium version, because my bicycle has a titanium frame. I guess titanium isn't the ideal material from which to fabricate bells. It doesn't ring, it clinks! And like others have testified to in this forum, it clinks whenever the bicycle is bumped. I didn't expect it to be like the Spurcycle Bell, but neither did I expect so much disparity. Unless someone can tell me how I can make it perform better, it's coming off of my bicycle at my earliest convenience!

Got mine and got it installed.
Interestingly, the first ring seemed the loudest --- I like the tone (got brass-anodized aluminum) --- but it isn't as loud as the mirabell it replaced. Also annoyed that on the bars, it's obviously out of line w/ the brakes and grip shift --- will have to try changing its position to between the latter twain, and if that doesn't work out, either remove the spacer from my Ergon GS1s (not wild about that) or try some less sculpted handlebars.
Ordered a clone from eBay, and will be dismantling that if it isn't an improvement and seeing what can be done on this.

Bells are required by law where I live, regardless of where you ride and i still don't have one. I would easily rock one of those.

Well... I have now 3 Oi (2 large for road bikes and 1 for single speed)
Large ones are okay... for MUP... small one was inadequate in sound level or tone... totally different thing. Than, I got chinese knock off for small one just yesterday... wierd... that small chinese one sounds as good as big OI and louder... wierd... (at 1/4th the cost or so)

I saw this on my FB ... will it work with my aero bars though .... this is why I prefer rubber straps to plastic screw in style accessories.

This looks very sleek but I really like my Incredibell. Its small and fairly loud. Gets some occasional laughs especially as I pass guys on fancy bikes who can't keep up. :-)

I object to the use of Kickstarter by a company like Knog. It's totally inappropriate platform for an established company with a diverse product line. The stuff about "get it to market faster" is a just a fat lie. Really, you can produce it faster by putting together a Kickstarter campiagn, waiting for funding and then executing their production plan is going to be faster than simply going straight to production.
It does look neat, but I'll wait for it actually to appear via legitimate channels.
