This is seriously the coolest innovation in bike bells I've ever seen, and I've backed it!

It sounds really good (in the videos) and, most importantly, it DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A BELL! Knog has hit this one out of the park! At last! We can be safe without looking like Freds!

I tend to think that anyone riding in a place that would require a bell automatically qualifies as a Fred.

That said, it is a neat bell.

Agreed. Still wouldn't put it on a road bike, but that Ti shot glass bell belongs on any adventure touring bike.

I get that you're being cheeky, but honestly, in my town (Minneapolis) there are a lot of bikes on all routes (roads, bike paths, greenways, etc) - a bell is always a good idea around here. I've only found one option I'm will to put on a road bike, but this is better design and better price.

So by your point, every rider in Minneapolis is a Fred since everywhere you ride 'requires' a bell (or it's just a good idea).

Tend to think, yes. But not being too much of a scofflaw, I have them on the bikes I ride around town. But not that model -yet.

Better than clacking the brake levers, which doesn't work as well these days with carbon fiber & plastic.

I'm astonished;
I actually wouldn't mind having one of those.
I often take a MUP for the first mile or so of my ride, just because it has a tunnel to get me under a busy 5-lane street w/o stopping.

I object to the use of Kickstarter by a company like Knog. It's totally inappropriate platform for an established company with a diverse product line. The stuff about "get it to market faster" is a just a fat lie. Really, you can produce it faster by putting together a Kickstarter campiagn, waiting for funding and then executing their production plan is going to be faster than simply going straight to production.

It does look neat, but I'll wait for it actually to appear via legitimate channels.

The Spurcyle is an awesome bell but REALLY expensive. I have the black one. They now have knock-offs being sold approx $10. I bought one to try it out for myself. Still have not received it yet so I'm really interested to see how it compares. Once all is said and done, the spurcycle goes to my new future bike and the knock-off goes to my old bike. BTW, there is a youtube video comparing both.

Having said that, this bell looks really nice and priced reasonably compared to spurcycle. I'm tempted to get one as well.

I can't think of any time when flicking a bell or clacking a lever would be as gratifying as yelling.

The Oi is a nice looking design but I don't think it can match the sound of a Crane brass bell. Here is mine, stem mount in place of a spacer.

I like it.

A bit expensive, but it looks well designed.

The bell tone as played on my computer was pretty sharp... It is hard to say how loud it truly is, but It might be annoying to the rider.

Thanks for the link, ARPRINCE. I have three Spurcycle bells and needed a fourth for the mtn bike (damn tourists) so I just ordered a knockoff. The Knog one looks cool but I'm surprised that they cannot, as an established company, cough up $20,000+ to fund it themselves. I don't want to wait either but the design is very cool.

I remember when I was fresh off of knee surgery. I had done the requisite number of weeks for recovery on the trainer and decided that on my first ride out, the MUP would be a good option to avoid any altercations with auto traffic. Holy cow, that MUP was a nightmare and way more dangerous than 90+% of the road riding I've ever done. Too many oblivious people with headphones and Freds going for Strava segments on jogging paths like lunatics.

I can, however, understand utilizing MUP's as connecting trails in dense urban areas. I still wouldn't bother installing a bell.

That struck me as rather odd as well. They're doing pretty well from what I can tell and seem to roll out new product all the time. I would think they have the resources to make this happen really quickly at the same price point.
