It's in the high 20's to low 30's here, but I still need to ride outside. The problem is as follows: after about 5 to 10 minutes into the ride, the signal from the hub will start to drop out, and then shortly after it will be gone completley, although the heartrate stays. I replaced the batteries in the hub, replaced the wiring harness (WITHOUT zipties) and replaced the battery in the head unit. Still does it. I noticed that after I put a fresh battery into the head unit, the next ride I took it out on (in the 20's), it worked for about an hour with no loss of signal then died. I thought to try it once more, took it back out again today and it died within 10 minutes. One thing I noticed is that besides the usual sluggish LCD response that happens in the cold, the screen would completley dissappear at times. I'm thinking this has something to do with power, i.e., as in the battery. When I put the new battery in, it read 3.15 volts on my multimeter. When I got back from my ride today, the battery, with only about 4 hours of riding on it, read 2.82 volts. Anyone have any suggestions before I call Saris?

EDIT: Oh, and BTW, I have no signal loss when at room temperature on the trainer.

It sounds like you've done everything I would do. You might try rotating the shark fin a bit closer to the hub, but that's only going to help with transmission, not the display.

I've read a lot of stories of them dying after a period below freezing. Mine has gotten a really weak display in cold, but not died. That said I don't even bother taking it out with me if it is in the 20s or colder.

Had a similar problem after my bike sat in an airline cargo hold for 7 hours. Even though my bike sat in steamy Cancun for a day or two before I used it, the PT just did not work at all, no display, for about 20 minutes into my ride (in 90 degree heat). Once it really warmed up, it was fine.
