finally found a steel trek

and its my size. paint is in great shape so i dont have to paint this one. best of all i picked it up for $75. i'm keeping this one, but not sure how i'm gonna build it up.

Nice. for $75, really nice.
That frame has good potential as a century bike. Solid, smooth, reliable; and excellent geometry.

Nice snag sloar. The 420 is a very pleasant rider.

Insofar as building it up, just put your favorite tires on it and then decide if it needs anything more.

Not sure about this one, but the 420 I have came w 27 inch wheels and a Helicomatic hub. If that is what you have, as a keeper, I would probably swap to the 700s of your choice.

Nice bike with typical awesome Trek paint!

Trek used a lot of Helicomatic hubs, not limited to the 420. My 1984 Trek 620 came with them.

Nice geometry, and very good half-step-plus-granny ringset. The red bar tape and brake cable housings look just right on that bike.
