I'm suggesting posting photos of the catalog/brochure pages directly on this thread.

I like the idea of adding them to vintage-centurion to keep the source of Centurions as centralized as possible.

I think that it is certainly possible, but since this is ground-floor type stuff, I'd like a minimum quality and QC process. Angled photos with iffy lighting help no one, as we can all attest to with our various years of online use. I would say that good scans are a go, with photos having to be really good and properly cropped. I can be the QC and can run scans (and potentially photos) through Photoshop etc and upload them.

My preliminary plan for bringing attention to them would be to call them out in the first or second post of this thread ("In Post #217, the 1987 Medici catalog is posted.").

Otherwise, if you already have a Flickr or photo hosting account that does well with 'photo albums', then I'm happy to link to it there.

Also, for any potential catalog postings 1) Let's not have it be a 30 page catalog if possible 2) No repeats.

What catalog(s) do you have/have in mind?

Fair and reasonable qualifications. My apologies if my questions here are adding needless posts to the thread without directly contributing to content.

I recently acquired a sales brochure for early 60's Triumph models, however I don't actually have it in hand yet. I can certainly try to scan and upload images of those pages to a third party hosting site if you'd prefer. I could also email those images directly to you if you'd like to determine their suitability. I'd love to contribute their content to your admirable effort.

The initial scope is to be makes of complete bicycles, not component manufacturers (though that could be a later edition).

This list will be ever growing or changing. This list will not/never be 100% complete, conclusive, or exhaustive, but I welcome and appreciate your contributions to get it closer!

I truly want this to be a helpful and central source for all of us, even as there are a number of places on the web that do have catalogs listed--they're just not listed here. I will input my saved list of links and dig for some more, but know that this will require input from many of you who have knowledge and interest in companies that I don't (or am not aware of). The sources for these will be far and wide, with perhaps even multiple sources for a company. Some sources will have multiple companies' catalogs. It will be a work in progress with occasional errors (that I will work to amend as soon as I can), so please be patient.

A huge thank you for current and former BF members, as well as all the others that have posted and hosted scanned catalogs over the years. This list could not have been made without you!

UNITED STATES

Schwinn (1895-2000 w/ a number of the earlier years missing)
Holy freewheels, Batman! I have ordered the 1988 Schwinn ATB catalogue, and I can scan and post that after I receive it. (This one is of special interest to me because of my Project KOM-10.) Outlier on mine is the front RollerCam brake -- all of the other KOM-10 forks I have seen have brake bosses below the rim, for cantilever brakes.

I keep looking for a 1982 Bianchi catalog, because I suspect that's what mine is (S/N connotes a late 1981 frame build date). The outlier is my "metallic charcoal" ("Ralph Lauren Brown," according to my artist wife) paint scheme.

@Hudson308 don't worry about the posts cluttering things up. It's part of the process. Like I said, if you already have a photo hosting account, I can link to the catalog scans there. If not, then you can send scans to me when you get them.

@John E I didn't know Schwinn had an extra ATB catalog for 1988. I'd like to be able to see the scans (or an example) first so that we can present them in the best way possible (as in, if there is any exposure, saturation or color correction needed).

Okeedoke. I don't have an image hosting account, so I'll scan the pages and send them to you. As an organizational suggestion, you could add the subject title to your list above, and simply reference the post number in this thread once you've uploaded.

Thank you @HeikoS69 for the Flickr link as well as the PDF file. I have updated the first post. Reposting the PDF link with translation (you can download it--very helpful!)

**********

For bicycle company catalog scans that are not hosted, or are from one's personal collection, that are of years not found in the first post of this thread, please look to HeikoS69's Rene Herse scans as what to aim for. Not to satisfy me or some other wrapped-around-the-axle type, but to showcase the beauty and specialness of the bikes, the copy and the artwork in the catalogs, as best as possible. If someone wishes to post, please either employ the post title function (found in the Go Advanced reply function/section) or bold the bicycle company and year in the main post/text body (ex: Schwinn - 1985). I will then use the second post in this thread to call out which post number corresponds to which company and year of catalog.

Thank you for your patience.

1962-ish Triumph Brochure

Here's what I've got for the early 60's Triumph brochure. My best guess is '62, as there is no date printed anywhere. Note the same copy style and date ambiguity for the '62 Raleigh catalog available on Bulgier.net. My estimate is also based on the equipment and options listed. I actually have an example of the Sebring 200 that exactly matches the one illustrated below, and it has a grease fitting for the bottom bracket. I've been miserably misguided before. Anyone have more specific date info?

1962 Triumph p1

1962 Triumph p2

1962 Triumph p3

1962 Triumph p4

1962 Triumph p5

1962 Triumph p6

Bianchi 1986 Catalog

I just acquired a 1986 Bianchi Brava locally and in great condition, but I can't find any details about its specs anywhere on the internet. The 1986 Bianchi American catalog seems to be non-existent online. I'm going to go to the library today to see if a reference librarian can help me dig it up, but if anyone has access to it, let me know. I'll post it if I find it.

(I made this post because I have to post 10 times before I can post a link, and I want to be able to get this catalog up as soon as I find it. But maybe one of you already has it).

I searched for Holdsworth in this thread and I think it only appears in the first post (1976 and 1982 catalogues).
There's a web page with the entire history of Holdsworth including scans of catalogues from 1934 to 1987.

Unfortunately I can't post links yet, but google for "nkilgariff" and it's the "WF Holdsworth" link.

Same site has catalogues for Claud Butler, FH Grubb, and several others.

Not particularly a catalog, but more of a brochure. These scans are likely from the early 80s around '80 or '81. Early 80s Takara Brochure

There are some specs for some of these bike boomers.

Excellent initiative RiddleOfSteel !

There’s this site with lots of Peugeot catalogues in different languages, haven’t seen it in the links above, maybe I missed it, anyway here it is: Cycles Rétro-Peugeot

There also was a website giroditaliadepoca.eu with a list of the main Italian brands and a few words (in Italian) on their history ad main models names. The website is no longer available, but I should have the pdf somewhere, I can send it to you, don’t know if there’s a copyright on it…
