Most folk wouldn't feel that I have upgraded my bike at all, however, I have customized the bejesus out of it.:

The basic bike: 2008 Kona Fire Mountain...Modifications, & additions:

Xtracycle FreeRadical
Trekking bars w/vintage "ten speed" rubber grips
Winkku turn signals
Magicshine headlight
Front Rack (actually combined parts from 3 racks)
EZee hub motor
vintage Cannondale front panniers
vintage Cannondale handlebar bag
trunk bag w/flashlight mount used to hold batteries for the motor, and the headlight
2 small bento (I think that is what they were called) bags mounted on the frame top tube
customized, modified stem mounted vintage Shimano Fingertip shifters
home made streamers
bell
MKS GR9 pedals w/toe clips
vintage seat from a Univega mountain bike
Down Low Glow
triangular frame bag, holds battery & controller for DLG
seat bag
SRAM bass worm
Grunge guards--front and rear
Planet Bike fenders
Planet Bike Super Flash
2 generic blinkies
11-34 Mega range 8 speed cassette
Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, except in winter, then, Nokian Mount & Ground studded tires
vintage wheel reflectors from a Ross bike
Xtracycle Kickback kickstand
safety flag (Gadsden Don't Tread on Me Flag)... nothing whatsoever to do with the tea party

I am waiting for my Biologic seat post/pump to arrive.

WOW!!! Talk about upgrades!!

And I thought making my one speed trike into a three speed was high tech.

Seriously, I did learn from the various upgrades what I can reasonable do next.

Love the pics of some of the upgraded bikes - especially xtrajack's. Boy that's some heck of a bike xtrajack.

Roody, cyclokitty, cooker, Torrilin and cosmoline - thanks for the feedback re the cycling shorts, the saddle and especially the difference between good saddle pain and bad saddle pain. BTW, I seem to be getting accustom to the saddle, less discomfort as days go by. However, I'm just commuting a short distance with the trike (3 miles one way). Something tells me that cycling longer than 3 miles will paint a different picture.

I'll take pics of mine later, just got it back today. Really loving the 1x8 setup. LBS did a great job. Between riding to and from Ride of Silence and the ride itself I probably put 20 miles on the setup through a pretty representative stretch of roads. Handled great, no chain drop. Love it. Also had a chance to try out the new pedal/half clip combo. Pretty easy to slide in, almost natural at times. Easy to ride on the non-clip side for a minute or two coming away from a light.

Now I'm just debating bars.

Put a bike mirror on my trike. The type you clamp onto the handlebars. Now I have a nice view of who is behind me or quickly coming up along side. Saves a lot of needless neck twisting.

I am currently running three mirrors on my bike. I am not a real big fan of handlebar mounted mirrors. I personally find a helmet mounted mirror to be more useful to me. The Winkkus' function as mirrors as well as turn signals.

I try to keep the upgrades to a minimum, like most here, changing the saddle and pedals are the first things I do. The next upgrades, since I use flat bars, are changing the grips, adding fenders, rack, panniers, computer, mirror and a high powered lighting system for winter, reverting to a basic system for summer.
