Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Boy, it's just RAINING 56cm Schwinn Circuits! I tried a different search on FB Marketplace and one popped up in San Jose! This one's in about the best condition I've seen.

DOo ITT ^

You guys have totally grossed me out. I've always hated cigarettes. My mom used to smoke one a day after dinner. Before I was even in kindergarden, I told her one night that if she didn't stop, I would run away. She never smoked another.

Looking back, quitting smoking after 43 years is one of the proudest accomplishments of my frikkin life. That's how bad that addiction is.

The adverse reaction was not long in it's arrival. The fatigue was first, and I turned off the light at 8:30. And proceeded to pass the night exhibiting symptoms of food poisoning, without any of the violence of it; just steady pain moving around in the digestive tract. At 5:30 I got up and had a nice dump, and noticed the soreness in my upper arm. And then slept, pain free for the next three hours. At the moment I'm still in the hammock, gingerly sipping my coffee. The wife had a peaceful night's sleep and no soreness. Good for her. One down; one to go. I will make a point of not eating a largish meal after the next shot.
Do people tear off their masks and throw them in the air, after the second shot?

That would have been before my fairly brief time. I rode with them from maybe 1999-2001 or 2002.

In Texas they don’t even wait for the first shot. They just follow the governor like lemmings.

Mom smoked. Like a pack a day of unfiltered Camels from ~1940-1970, then she switched to Trues, and eventually went with the patch and quit completely, after a few years of imposing rules on herself like "no smoking inside the house", which limited her smoking in winter, but not so much in summer.

Because I was into cars, Mom and Dad were able to get me to do things like cleaning the windows. I'll never forget the brown crud that came off her windows. Yeesh. It turned me off of smoking.

I feel EXACTLY the same way. My greatest life achievement. In fact, my 39 year anniversary is coming up in a week or so.

I wonder if my medical chart is under one pack per day yet.

No hits on my local FB Marketplace, but I learned that 1/8 scale Schwinn models are a thing.

Rather bummed - new blingy bar install will have to wait about two weeks. Can't find the bar tape I want! Checked every shop with an hour and a half, and nobody has either of the two I have in mind. But, there are worse things in life.

So I never tightened my crank arm, and this morning I forgot about it. I remembered half way through the ride. Dismounted, gave it a shake and was convinced I could feel play, again only in the right side. Kept on riding, and when I got home I checked it again, and now no more play.

If I’m pedaling really slow with torque I hear a clicking noise coming from the crank area, but once my cadence picks up I don’t hear it anymore.

Yeah, I saw that. Looks like the 40# Ten Speeds did when I was a kid. Right down to the suicide levers and shift levers on the stem. Believe it or not, I actually put those on my bike when I was 15. Of course, it was 1972, so I think I should be cut SOME slack.
