Fashion advice - am I pulling this off?
Last night I changed my brake cables from classic black to flashy white. My girlfriend thinks it looks ridiculous.
Is she right? Should I return to black or is fancyboy white working?
(Sorry about image size )

What, your girlfriend doesn't have a pair of white shoes she wears with her red dress? I think it looks OK. Though I'm fond of black cable housings, white goes well on that bike. Just resist the urge to put a white saddle on it

IMO housing, tape, and saddles should all match. And they should be black!
Seriously, your bike looks good. Count yourself lucky that your GF likes bikes enough that she'd even notice as subtle a change as switching the cable housing. My wife would never notice (but she would pick up in a second if I wore different shoes!).

it is too bad you can't find a nice set of gold cables, but the white looks OK
also you need hoods and dropout adjuster screws

By the way my girlfriend is taking the responses thus far as a victory for her. In her opinion looking 'Okay' is just not good enough

Psh, don't listen to these clowns. Go with a stainless braid or coiled cable. Then you don't have to worry about matching the other stuff and you don't have to worry about brown and black together.
Buy your girlfriend a bike so she can critique the colors on it instead of yours.

You are going to let your GIRL-FRIEND decide your cable color?
You are going to let OUR opinion sway you?

It looks awesome, it goes with the bike. I've done white cabling on red bikes before and it looks great, I like the look cause it "brightens" up the overall bike.

The color looks fine IMHO, but they could stand being trimmed a couple inches.

I agree they could be trimmed.
I like Jagwire grey housing and that's what I'd put on that bike were it mine. Trying to match the saddle and bar tape is not gonna happen. I know of one source of brown housing and it's a much lighter brown.
The white doesn't look bad, but you'd be pulling it off a lot better with white toe straps.

First off, she's full of envy. (P!ss her off, start sleeping with your bike when she's not around) But in her defense, everyone knows you never do white after Labor Day or before April.

Yellow housing, yellow or light brown or blue bar tape. Get some hoods (Campagnolo, Suntour, Modolo or AME will all fit; eschew Euro-Asia because they don't fit) and color-coordinated pedal straps. If you like the way your GF dresses herself, then concede this one; you'll both end up happier.

White cables only work (imho) if you are doing white saddle and bartape, or it's a white bike. Otherwise, they look a little child-like.

I like to match the brake housing and bar tape to the color of the bike script or a predominant color in the logo (to make them pop). So, I agree with Bianchigirll with the gold (or possible yellow).

The cables are fine (but too long). You need to go with white bar tape and a black saddle though. And install some hoods while you have the cables out to shorten them

Cheers. I agree the cables need to be taken in a couple of inches and I'm trying to get some compatible hoods most likely black though since gum are really expensive. Here'a pic with the black cable housing (Possibly the safer option)

Of the two choices, white looks better than black, but neither look all that great IMO.
Bianchigirl's suggestion of gold would be my first choice with the brown saddle/wrap combo.
20Grit's suggestion of coil (in silver) would be my next choice.
BTW, "fashion-wise"... white / brown is always preferred over black / brown.
If you decide to stay with white, you need to replace the RD housing too. I'd go with white toe straps, also.
