An even greater saving grace is seafoam herself. Those hills will be there tomorrow and next year, etc....and so will you.

Well I'm in for the blueberry ride but looks like I'm a day late and a piece of pie short again which is the story of my life, my excuse is I'm at a new job and worked 66 hrs. this week and had to work on Sat. God is surely good wonder what upgrades I need for the bike? Guess I will have to make up for it today by doing a ride to a local Mom and Pops Greek restaurant and have a piece of blueberry pie. As far as posting a picture I don't know how to do that on my old Mayflower computer all I know is how to ride the bike and sure will have to ride more than 15 miles if I'm eating pie. *grin* Report coming later today.

Some of you posted beautiful pictures of your rural routes. And now for something completely different. This is a Google Earth screenshot looking south over central Toronto and showing my route. About 10% is on MUPS. You can see Lake Ontario in the top of the shot. The blue X is where I ate.

Sunday...

I got up and did 15 miles today and then finished off my pie...that's what we're supposed to do, right? Go for a ride on Saturday AND Sunday and eat pie, right? We do this every weekend, right?

certainly or at least attempt to do so since pie deserves consumption after every ride...

If I could quit coughing up green cr*p, I'd go for a ride but my favorite wife forbade me to risk infection & to take it easy one more day. BUT I still had a piece of berry pie left over from yesterday so I've enjoyed 2 rewards and not worked a bit for it & enjoyed reading everyone else's accounts...

This is fantastic.

Maybe we should all learn how to do this and post rides on a regular basis?

I think it's still beta, or at least, doesn't work on a Mac.

I had a computer engineering student do an extra credit project in my class last spring where he put Google Earth locations on all the historic gardens covered in the class. It has been a wonderful addition to the lectures & never fails to solicit a gasp when Hadrian's Villa can be pulled up & shown in its digital glory today.

Saw a "V" of geese on my Pie ride yesterday. Autumn crispness almost in the air early mornings. An idea: what about a Pumpkin Pie & Coffee ride as we really get into fall...late October maybe? Pumpkin haters can substitute apple. Anyway, it was a nice communal feeling and I'd like to return to it periodically.

The weekend ended up being very unpredictable. During the week a very good friends brother was found dead on a street in Boston. I ended spending alot of time helping the family and attending services, besides having to baby sit the grand kids Sat night. So my pie ride ended up being done in two parts. Saturday morning at 7:00 AM I got in a quick 5 miles of single track. The sunday morning my wife and I did another 10 miles of single track on the Blackstone Canal. On the way home we stopped at the orchard and got a bag of fresh Cortlands, which later became a pie to behold. The pics:

The Old Dam

The Old Arched Bridge

The easy part of the trail

I think these guys are waiting for pie

Don't feel bad, I have worked 12 hour shifts all weekend. I'm doing my ride tomorrow. Although I expect pecan pie, not blueberry.

Thanks, I was inspired by an earlier post by belowzero. Google Earth is free to download and install. I didn't use the "path" function in Google Earth...I just saved the screen shot to MS-Paint by typing CTL-PrntScrn while in Google Earth, then opened Paint and hit CTL-V to copy the picture. I used the drawing function in paint to draw my path, then cropped and shrunk the picture by about 50% and saved as a jpeg to ensure it was under 100 kB for bikeforum uploading.

worth a slice of peach pie

Did my pie ride a day late -- had more time and better weather. Waited until the frost lifted and it warmed up to around 55 before heading out for a 50-60 mile ride. Explored some new roads, was passed by 4 young roadsters on a hill but caught up and went by them at the top where they had stopped to catch their breath. Felt strong when I got to Montrose (30-mile mark) so I explored a possible route for a century ride to Ouray and added another 5-6 miles before heading to Starvin' Arvin's for some fresh peach pie -- fresh out of the oven!

The last 20 miles home were not much fun as I rode into a 15 mph headwind but as I pulled into the driveway I checked the computer and the mileage was 62.7 -- the longest ride ever and I felt really strong start to finish. I'll explore my route a couple more times when my new bike arrives (7 days and counting) and then I'll pick a good fall day to do my first ever century between Delta and Ouray. That should be worth a couple of pieces of pie - with ice cream!

Pie WORSHIP?

WOW! A whole new dimension to our pie thread.

And the type of correlation would be negative or positive?

I lost 2 pounds last week while eating a delicious piece of berry pie. It must be a positive correlation. More pie, more weight loss!

Pie worship -- absolutely . . . but only for wholesome, locally grown berry pies, right?

OK, My work weekend is over. Today was a wonderful day to ride.
Nice weather as you can see from one picture.
Did 15+ miles, no worries about average speed, just enjoyed the ride and weather. And the pie!

I set out on a double century, including 3 hills of well over 6 miles of 18% grade into a 27mph headwind . . . OK. I"m lying. I didn't get to ride. We (Mrs. Slim and I) had a change of plans. Went to Mill Valley, CA to see my daughter & son in law's first house. I hope I am excused. BUT, NEXT WEEKEND is the bike club RIDE FOR PIE I had originally organized for last weekend. It will be a 50 miler for me, with several bike members all converging on the bakery. But I did have pie on the the right day. Apple (my favorite) from a little grocery store in Mill Valley.

Be sure and stop in at the Orvis Hot Springs a few miles south of Ouray. It's a beautiful pool, and clothing optional, so you won't need your bathing suit.

I had ISP trouble over the weekend, thought I posted Sunday morning but it didn't take: I rode for the 15 miles but there was no blueberry reward, had to go with Cocoanut Cream. Delicious but probably will require an extra 50 miles this week to work it off. Don
