Peugeot Dolomites 1987

A purchase from EBay.Fr, 215 euros, including shipping. All English threads, 26.4 seatpost, 22.2 stem. Transferred a Mavic group from unrideable Mercian. Except couldn’t remove Mavic bottom bracket so used a TA crank and bottom bracket. Nice ride…

Sort of surprised by the space still left for larger tires. Was the Dolomites more of a sport model, even without the eyelets?

According to the French catalog, bikeboom Peugeot, the top five models all had the Reynolds 531 Pro, differed in color, name, and component group. 25 is the biggest tire the sloping front fork will take, a 28 with ease on rear.

Interesting, so all had the same geometry, just different level of componentry?

I wonder which model my 1987 Isoard/Super Competition (also around $220 shipped from England) for the British market corresponds to?

It has a more standard pantographed (Lion) crown fork.

the ebayer took several weeks to find a box, and then it arrived in Miami, (following the French Poste shipping number) the day before the hurricane arrived, I think that was a Friday, thought this won’t work well, and it was delivered in OKC Sunday morning! It’s a 60cm CTC, maybe was to large, anyway, I was lucky!

So this was before they started using SLX on the Dolomites?

From the bikeboom Peugeot French catalogs, 1988 was Carbon and 531P, the Columbus SLX doesn’t show up till 1989 as ‘Dolomites’.

Nice score, hard to beat a good Pug deal.

I would get that front flint flicker turned around or removed.

Ever seen what happens if one wads up bad?

A lot to like about that bike. I'd get some black paint to cover up "The S Word" on the brake housing...
