1930's Malvern Star
This is my re-make of a classic English three-speed, with an Australian twist.
The frame is a Malvern Star Two Star, that came to me having been converted to a fixed gear. The Canberra Bicycle Museum has confirmed the date of manufacture to have been in the 1930's. It is likely to be a clubman frame, with track dropouts and path racer style geometry. Added to this was a 1973 Sturmey-Archer three-speed rear dyno hub and original front and tail-lights that are in excellent working order and illuminate my daily commute.
Full mudguards were pilfered from a Peugeot, they and the frame lovingly rattle-canned British Racing Green.
Black B17, Mafac racers, Nitto North Roads, Shimano 600 cranks and VeloOrange Cork Grips complete the bike. Wheels built and bike assembled by P. Lynn Miller of CTA.
After about a year of riding I have to admit it is too small for me and so it is likely to be up for sale soon, but I wanted to share it whilst I still had it.
Many thanks

First time I,ve ever seen the "stars" incorperated into the head lugs,I thought they were usually separately fixed onto the head tube area, but it dont suprise me any as I have a "Supreme" with a similar vintage and a similar lug design but with maps of OZ instead of "stars" here,s a pic >>> [IMG][/IMG]

Nice work Jetbike. I have never seen a Malvern Star kitted out the way you have yours set up. It does resemble an English 3 speed.

Thanks for the feedback. It's bike that I spent a long time considering, thinking, stripping and painting. It simply doesn't fit. Weird geometry too, 53cm seat c-c and 59.5 top tube c-c.
I've decided to sell it and have advertised it here https://www.fixed.org.au/forums/t14363/

Nice. Malvern's are sweet frames - old path racers. And true to the english path racer spirit, yours looks great .
wish I had gotten there before the girl did...
