Anyone have an extra core for these lying around ? Feel like an idiot getting bagged on eBay, buying a set of stems just for the one little bit. Better off buying another tire, and saving the core. But I hope there are lots of these lying around.

Never used these tires before or I would have one lying around.

I have lots of OTHER random tiny parts, mostly campy NR, SR.

Thanks, Eric
If the pin of the valve is shorn off, you don't need to replace it. You can still inflate the tire. Presta valves have no springs. Only air pressure keeps them closed, so you don't press on the pin to inflate. You just overcome the internal pressure.

@abstract, on second thought - being one race away from a full headset and actually having the frame cups is a plus. Would you swap the incomplete headset for a pair of Christophe straps?

Don't have pair of Lyotard 23s. I've got a couple pairs of Maillard CXCs with and without clips and straps, SR SP-152, and Shimano 105 without clips or straps.

(pics of straps two posts down from here)

First thing I tried... using a zefal pump the air won't flow into the tire after the second or third pump. I tried reseating the pump head many times and still no go. I get the theory just fine, I don't know why it didn't work. Pushing at least 100psi worth into maybe 5 or 10 psi at best.
What worked better but still sucks, was putting Schrader adapter on and using my compressor. Still didn't go above 65psi or so with compressor at 110. Not sure why again.

Pump and compressor work fine on the one without the broken tip.

BTW Tom, if you're ever riding through Piermont, you would be welcome to have a cup of coffee and see if you can figure it out. Makes no sense to me yet.

Any tire shop should have one. I probably have 5 in a drawer somewhere. They all leak over a couple of days.

So, this happened today:

Would anyone happen to have a compatible replacement part? This is from a first generation Campagnolo C-Record RD. Thanks so much.

Sorry I can't help, but at least it's not as bad as I thoughtit was. . For a moment there I thought you had snapped off the bottom of your drop out.
Good luck, Eric

francophile-

I just secured a pair of new, white Christophe toe straps, and have no need for the Maillards, so I won't be able to make a trade here. Thanks, anyway!

Does anybody know where a guy could get M5 x 1.0 pitch screws for and older Simplex shifter mount? It's courser threading than current standards and not readily available. I need ones about 20mm long. Or should I just look for a newer strap-on shifter mount with standard M5 x 0.8 threading? Trying really hard to keep this French.

This guy had the same issue and found a good solution.

@CV-6, I have piles of used decent spokes. Most of them appear to be galvanized. I was just going to bring them to a bike coop. You want me look see if I have 299's? Please email me at the address below.

I have butted stainless spokes from a built but never ridden rear wheel -- half are 299mm and half are 300mm. Would that work?
EDIT: I just saw it needs to be 36... I think I only have 32. Yours for shipping if you happen to still want them, though.

Iso: early (Pre 1980) 3ttt or GB stem with a reach of 120 to 130.

Have trade goods including shorter stems. (NB: I have a few 120 stems, but I need an early one)

Thanks @Ayers, that was an interesting read. I'm hesitant to ruin the old shift mount clamp be rethreading it with a helicoil - the old shift levers still work and could stay with the clamp, or I can try and find M5x1.0 bolts/screws. I'd rather find new shift lever clamps with M5x0.8 threading if I can't find anything.

@mountaindave, I'm still surprised at how people ask questions that are eminently googlable. Sometimes there are good reasons, some of which are not self-evident. Sometimes, people just don't think to look.

Scratch my last bolt search, I found a possible bolt, but it might be too short, so I am also ISO two French standard M5x0.8 threaded DT shift lever clamps. Not the old, obscure M5x1.0 clamps (have two of those). Simplex would be absolutely fantastic, but other Frenchie clamps would be awesome.

This is an oddball request, but does anybody have a high resolution scan of the image I use in my avatar? It's an old Specialized Sirrus ad from ~1989 or 1990. I accidentally shrunk my only file down to "avatar size" and can't find the original image on the interweb. It wasn't all that good anyway.
