5:49, 103.7, 4645kJ, 9050ft elevation, 296TSS. And, set a new 20min max power (365w) but I cracked myself around minute 15 going a bit too hard up a steep kicker. I wager if I paced it better I might be able to hit 370.

Feel surprisingly good. Drank like 9 bottles and ate so many pb&js...

Now, to sleep until Tuesday.

first weekend day not racing since GMSR. really really needed it. in addition to winning a cross race (check) and earning my 3 in cross (have the points, although for whatever reason i feel like JD will deny my upgrade because he seems to do that to everyone), I wanted to do a century on my fixed gear. went out today and did just shy of 90 miles. i'm ruined, but a different type of ruined than a road ride. anyway, i reckon next sunday i'll hit 100.

Inadvertently got myself into a cat 6 situation today, maybe. Was at the tail end of my ride and a collegiate rider passed me, decided to see how well I could keep up (without drafting) because this particular team I believe has generally strong riders. He slowed down enough that I felt I needed to pass but he decided to match and were kind of evenly matched but I think he turned around on the segment while I kept on my way home. Had he tried he would have no doubt smoked me. I enjoyed the brief motivation

I should post my numbers. How about 5500ft in 57 miles at 19mph. Avg speed. I'm starved for attention without racing to validate me.

I don't know why I get stronger immediately after I stop racing. That week in Utah, riding only 8 hours or so, must have been refreshing.

It's the end of the summer. I decided to have fun with Strava, and push it hard on some segments on Thursday. I surprised myself with 5th all time on a climb of about .8 miles, and 6th all time on a straight away of about .7 miles -- I enter the segment off of a right 90-degree turn; if I came into straight on, I just might be able to cut the 5 seconds needed to take the crown :-). I think the efforts opened me up a bit because, I rode well on Friday, felt fine on Saturday doing 5 respectable-climb repeats in Littleton/Harvard (Oak Hill), and, today, I absolutely buried a teammate with a kilo move for a town line. As we say, this and a quarter will get me 10 minutes of parking downtown. But, it was fun!!!!

Had a great weekend. Took it EZ on Saturday and just did part of the usual group ride then headed the scenic way to coffee. Yesterday we did a team ride out to the lake with my new teammates. It was nice to do something different from the usual.

I had a friend comment that team rides are elitist. I thought team rides were pretty common, no? Especially during off season. My teammates are also my friends so it's easy and fun to get together for rides. I don't think doing a monthly team ride is elitist.

I'm not even sure what that means. Before team rides, do you call your non-team friends and say "nyah nyah, you can't come, plebe!"

Fat Boy Intervals today for 102 TSS. Struggled to settle into the first 5' interval and missed the 4' interval by a handful of watts. I was able to dial in the rest, but I can tell that this has been the fifth day of riding in a row and definitely the day after some good WRIs. Tomorrow might just be a recovery ride day.

Holy bovine some of you guys are putting in big miles. I did a couple really fun mountain bike rides over the weekend, and as a result, I just sprung for a new mountain bike yesterday.

I don't think 6 days has that lasting of an impact. I'm more hopeful that I'm just still seeing the slow year-to-year gains of a forever-long build.

I'd wager it is a bit of both. (A BF kind of wager since it can't really be proven wrong or right.) Either way, gains are good.

Hiked 12 miles yesterday.

So much harder (mentally at least) than any bike ride.

Gym today, workout included pushups to just short of failure on a half stability ball, twice. Don't know which hurts more, my chest or my abs.

Dude Im the other way. Gonna do a ~10ish mile and 3000 ft hike this Saturday and I don't think I could drag myself out for a 4 hour ride at this point.

A couple of hills on the cross bike. A segment of trail just opened up (due to the preserve buying the right of way past a farm) that links up a 15 minute, consistent dirt climb. Very surprised to set a 15 minute power PR on it today.

But I think that's just because there are no other climbs around here between 12 and 20 minutes long, which now that I think about it, is kind of weird.

All the 15 minute climbs were wiped out in the last ice age.

Junior pretty much stopped riding the end of July - or < 70 miles/wk now. We started him rowing and doing rowing class cross-fit stuff - 5days 2.5hour group. He says he feels weaker on the bike and in the boat as time goes on and thinks it is due to missing the gym heavy lifting and base mile cycling training. The rowing [training] is much more intense. I expect his rowing machine times will improve, but not because he's fitter, but he gets to know the machine. I think it's too hard. I saw this with my daughter as well. Work harder/more intensely and get slower. Still a good off-season activity and may be the ticket for entrance into a good college.

I am no longer thinking rowing is safer than cycling - last week where he rows the UCI (University of California Irvine) boat got T-boned by guys in their motor boat. Sent 3 rowers to the hospital, one with a broken foot.

It was a nice change from the brown grass & oaks that is every hike in the Bay Area.

I still need to get out to Yosemite though, I hear it's worth it.
