'Haven't been riding' is putting it mildly. Work, health, family ... mainly I'm a slackard.
I've been lurking but the shame has kept me from posting. Ha. Like I said, 2018 marks the return.

The last time I put air in my tires was so I could put the bike on the car rack to move it to the new house without destroying the rims. I don't let that stop me from posting, lol.

I think there was a drive in in AZ where I grew up but I never went. Never liked movies much due to always being overly conscious of time passing too quickly. I did watch the original star wars movies many times as a kid even though I was born after Return of the Jedi came out. I've only seen the new series (episodes 1, 2 and 3) once and couldn't bring myself to consider them real star wars. A friend would talk about the books as though they were star wars which I thought was ridiculous. Official canon be damned.
Anyway, we have tickets to see the new one on Christmas eve. I have to see at least the main series.
I just learned of the Christmas holiday special the other day, seems to be a cult favorite in this town. My god the first 5 minutes were terrible!

The 4 of the 6 2016 LUX junior team got together last night and focused on bulking (eating massive quantities of things no nutritionist would approve of) and watching Star Wars.

There's a newish thing in AZ called "Dive-in" movies where the resorts use those big inflatable screens to show movies in summer here by the pools. It's a way to get business during the off season. We've gone a few times. They don't play new releases of course.

Hope you guys all had a good holiday weekend. I had some good rides, felt stronger than I have in a while. Saturday at the ride start an 82 year old guy I haven't seen in a long time showed up. He looked good but he wasn't riding with us.
Later, on the way home some of us were on a 3 mile climb when we caught 2 riders and one of them was another old dude in awesome shape. After we passed he dropped his friend and rode with us for a bit to chat since we hadn't seen each other in ages. After he told me he was going to be 82 in April he dropped back to rode with his other friend.
Pretty great when an 81 year old guy can accelerate in the middle of a 3 mile climb.

By chance I found the journal thing I remembered writing from 1st or 2nd grade when the "new" star wars movie came out. Parents are cleaning out the house and I had to throw out all my old, OLD school work.

LOL. I found some standardized testing results from back then too that showed me being 3x the natl average. Wish it could have been that way as I got older. Guess I peaked in elementary school haha

Fun ride today that started with about 60 riders. Got down to half that in the middle and I was pleased to be able to hang on, or at least keep them in sight during the faster parts.
One guy got a new S-Works Tarmac and he was trying to show how fast he was in the last few miles. One of the women, (the fastest one), took exception with that and she went to the front and dropped his ass. She told me later she didn't care for him. I could tell.

When I was in 1st or 2nd grade, we had some sort of weird standardized testing. One of the things we got tested on was listening comprehension. Apparently, I was rated at post-high school level. I remember seeing that several years later in a scrapbook and showing my mom, a teacher, who wasn't impressed because high schoolers can't listen for **** (though I believe her language was a bit nicer). My trajectory leveled out as well.

I hope everyone has a good 2018!
My wife is sick so I'm not going anywhere. If I'm up at 11:59 I'll be playing this:
After 15 years, Sandstorm has finally found a purpose.

Being off for a couple weeks and having a ton of great time to be with my nuclear family, I'm wishing even more than usual that I had a less demanding job right now. 10 busy hours a day and still feeling stressed and not having enough time to do everything is taking a toll. Not exactly what I was promised when I signed up.

Our work is paving the parking lot so instead of working at home 2x a week we get 4. Our boss just sent out that parking is still an issue and I replied to all recommending that employees commute by bike. I'm getting hate mail as I write this....
