Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wahoo Elemnt Mini Weirdness

So I myself have an Elemnt Bolt which has worked flawlessly but I bought a Mini for my partner since I found a pretty good deal on one.

It seems to behave strangely. I know it needs to be tethered to a phone for full functionality but so far it's always been used tethered. It can connect to the chest strap, cadence, and speed sensors and it gives readings properly but it's recording when things get a little haywire.

For a time, it would sometimes not record the route, which was mostly fixed when we turned on GPS all the time in the iPhone privacy settings (rather than only when using). Sometimes it'll just randomly stop recording a ride. The weirdest issue is sometimes it'll record the ride and all the data but the date in the Wahoo app would show as Jan 1, 2000 or something but then when you click into the ride, the date is correct.

It's just all very inconsistent and I've emailed Wahoo about it. They offered to send a new Mini and when I set it up again, similar issues which makes me think this is a weird software setup thing.

Anybody else experience this?

Have you tried doing a factory reset on the device so it installs the latest firmware? I have the Elemnt Bolt and the app on my phone would always tell me to install the latest update but it never got installed until i did a factory reset. I do find their email support is quite helpful so keep at it.

I bought a Mini for my son-in-law a few years ago, he's been using it with no problems.
