Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I bet. Nothing I would consider, because a couple pills aren't going to help me on that iron maiden on wheels anyway.

In any event, I don’t think the thread is the right place for that discussion.
It's absolutely not the right place for that discussion and I won't let it happen. I would hope it doesn't get prolonged here either. Understandably a sore spot for all of us but we have to keep our emotions in check. There's a time and a place for everything.

Sounds like a good day.

Morning was cool and low humidity so I had a fantastic ride. It’s definitely chipseal season in Chester County but luckily today’s route only had a short section with “fresh oil and chips.”

Today is my first day of vacation in a LONG time (since November), I was originally going to have the whole week off for a Spain trip but things changed and I decided to just work most of the week and take off today to ride and do some work on the house. We painted daughter #1’s room since she is presumably never moving back, and are converting it to a guest room.

Bought a set of 105 7000 hubs instead.

Maybe when Shimano's 12 speed finally drops I can take the Trek to 11 somewhat affordably.

Then I got a notification that the shipment was being withheld until the duties were paid. At that point, I called up DHL - they said that they saw that I'd paid, but that they wouldn't have a chance to deliver until Monday. I asked if I could just pick the damn box up myself (the distribution center is only 6 or 7 miles away). They said that I could; they'd change the delivery request, but it would take time for someone to pick it from the warehouse and that it wouldn't be ready until today, despite the fact that it wasn't even noon yet.

As of now, no notification that it's ready to pick up and the status still isn't reflecting that I've paid the duties, which makes me wonder if anyone is going to bother to pick the box before said status changes.
Aaaaand it was as I'd suspected - no one was picking the box because of the hold on the package for an unpaid duty balance of $0.00.

I've been told to call them back in another four hours, if I haven't heard from them first. Thankfully, I've been given a direct line so that *knock on wood* I don't have to wait in queue for another 15-20 minutes.

Wasn’t aware the word I used wasn’t allowed or would cause a discussion. I certainly wasn’t trying to make it an issue but apparently it ruffled feathers and that wasn’t my intent.

It has taken an ongoing pandemic, an economic crash, and a powerful, worldwide protest movement, but for the first time in four years, I am optimistic about the direction of change. However, our disorganization and manifest incompetence are inviting aggression by an adversary nation and that could change everything again.

I still have hope, but I figure with low expectations, anything good will be like icing on the cake.

I knew about the warning against taking NSAIDS prior to exercise, but stuff sticks in my head better when I know the mechanism or the "why" of something. I rely on Ibuprofen whenever I have an ache or pain so I like to be able to know the whole pros-and-cons picture for the future.

Buffalo Springs 70.3 cancelled in the middle of the day yesterday, while some people were en route and couldn’t cancel hotels. I’m still inclined to believe this whole year is a wash, and I won’t believe any event (athletic or otherwise) is going to happen until several are successfully completed.

That includes any sort of football.

Hate to admit it, but those hit the spot in the summer.

we’re either having NE IPAs or DIPAs, hard seltzer, occasionally gin and soda water.

I have the 5800 brifters and derailleurs that were just on my R2 you’re welcome to. Sace me the trouble figuring out what to do with them. Can’t speak to condition, but PM me your address and I’ll just send them out.
