Perhaps now that we're on page 3 I can safely confess this:
Yes! The Rolls saddle was obviously not available in 1973, nor were the Campagnolo Epsilon rims or the Triomphe shift levers. This build may also involve one or two other minor offenses.

Mount a matching RD on the NDS side and you'd have training wheels.

btw, youse guys, when you mention someone and want his attention or response, you need to write out the name (after using the @ sign). Don't select it from the pop up window, else he won't be notified (unless he just stumbles upon it like I did here).

Seems like a really terrible user interface. I thought the auto-complete was a nice feature. I had no idea it circumvented notification.

For the record, I had no idea. This explains a couple surprising non-comments.

Yeah, but I didn't dare mention there what bike I had it on. When I bought this bike I mused on the idea of putting indexed shifters on it and was told in no uncertain terms that I shouldn't own this bike if I would even consider such a thing.

Yeah, he could have at least had the decency to find some Sachs brake levers to put on it.

I have a Shimano Dura Ace headset on my otherwise Suntour XC '85 Cannondale SM600.

In fact, it's reminded me that I'd like to do a short-cage Rally RD...

You askin' for sin? You lookin' for blasphemy? You want sacrilege? I gotcha covered. 1965ish Cinelli frame with 1960ish Cinelli fork (long story). The fork rechromed. I just had the frame repainted without chroming the lugs (another long story). Campy 10-speed triple drivetrain with (gasp) black Ergo levers. Tektro dual-pivot brakes. Nitto noodle bar and Tallux stem. Conti 5000s 700c x 32. About the only thing even remotely period correct is the seat post. Even the cloth tape is new-fangled Newbaum's.
I think I win.

All my road bikes run on full Campagnolo group sets, but some of those do not have Campagnolo seat post clamp bolts, there might even be a Sugino one in there. There I said it.
I lose sleep over it, my dreams are filled with recurring fears of being outed as a fraud, and I live in constant shame. But I refuse to pay over 20 English pounds for a bolt, even if it has got Campagnolo written on it.

Oh and I once had a different brand of tyre on the front wheel to the back.
Sorry, I won't make that mistake again!
